I wonder how max players in an arena is determined.
I'm trying to get in to one arena that has 123 active and 120 players max.
Yet, another arena has 17 active and 350 max!

The early and mid war arenas have less stict rules, because they are in less danger of over-crowding.

Basically the rules work to best split the players between the two late-war arenas.

the early and mid war arenas do not have fluctuating caps. They stay the same always. The LW arenas have dynamic caps that increase and decrease according to how many people are in the other LW arena. Its used to keep the populations more even in the LW arenas, other wise one LW arena has 350 people, and the other only has 50, in stead of splitting them 200 in each.

It is maddening if you have stuck to one arena all the time and now can't get in to help out during some massive attacks.. Seems blue is fixed 120 now.

P.S: This type of steering of events might be enough to make me lose interest in AH. I wonder how others feel about it?

This is getting silly. I have played the same arena for days now, and I'm totally uninterested in the other LW arena.. (Which has a map which makes me not want to play at all.)

What am I doing wrong? Have I totally misunderstood what AH is about? (I'm not terribly fixated with points and stuff, I just want to play one arena as well as I can, and enjoy coming back to it the next day.)

Thats one of the attitudes that has cause HTC to split arenas and add the other "fixes" The unwillingness of people to "bend". There really isn't any difference between  "blue" and "Orange". They both have the same maps, planes and so on.

The idea is to just have fun playing a game! If you don't want to "bend" you can take your $15 a month and leave like some have, but the most of us just play and have fun......... though I think I could have more fun if we had some new maps :D

Ehh... The map in orange was totally different from the one in blue. It sucked big time. Pls explain the point of "bending" people?

This is not bending. So you fly a couple flights in another arena, the idea is to have fun. Maybe you went to the other arena and your "team" was getting ganged, so it wasn't fun. Switch sides! have fun! thats the idea.

People determined to stick to one arena, one "country", are one of the reasons for HTC to step in. 100 folk having fun ganging 50 in the other side was spoiling the fun for a third of of HTC customers so HTC stepped in to force people to spread out.

If HTC wanted to balance things they could just put caps on numbers from each country. How is a general cap going to help if one country is already outnumbered?

As to switching sides, i didn't know it was possible (without extra subscriptions). Anyway, it goes against my grain (and that seems to be the case for most people here).

There are a number of maps in rotation in each arena.  When one country wins the war there is a re-set and the map changes.  Sometimes each arena will have different maps, sometimes they'll all have the same map.  Eventually the arena you're flying will have a different map.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

You can use two methods to switch, the first which is "advanced" is using the DOT Command: .country # (1 for Bishops, 2 for Knights, and 3 for Rooks)

Or just go to the O'Club from the tower and select "Switch Country".

ok, ty for the information!
Although I have to say that it goes against what I want to get out of the sim-experience. I also wonder if this feature won't cut down on peoples willingness to plan campaigns.

Well of course we should modify the entire system so that you are
happy then...because that's what's important after all.

People should just shut up, and put up. Be happy with what they have and not leave any kind of feedback...because that's what's important after all.
