When you ar in the pintle gun on the sherman and you start to zoom in the main gun disapears. Not sure if it is the same with other tanks or not.

Your field of view is out beyond  the barrel of the main gun.   Same as if u look at something with your arm extended then use fieldglasses you do not see your arm.
