the daily show and colbert report are not news shows, they are comedy shows, they tell you that at the start of the shows, you might as well get your "news" from saturday night live.

you probably think the "daily show" is a real news program.

Cite your source.  Your critique of Cronkite is ridiculous.  As for the daily show, sorry, not a liberal hippie.

EVERYTHING on those two shows is 100% true!  (Except for a few obvious jokes)
Go ahead and point out what they have said that is not true.  (Except for the few obvious jokes)

But he was right, while it wasn't a military victory for the North or the VC, it was a definite political and propoganda victory for them.

When a news program turned a profit (in the 70's? I know Nielsen ratings didn't even keep track of news till the 80's) it ended the idea of broadcast "journalism."

Well, it became one after their buddies in the US news media kept saying it was over and over and over and over.

Using a host of oral interviews, 455 tape recordings made in Vietnam during the years 1968-1972 and numerous other sources, military historian Sorley has produced a first-rate challenge to the conventional wisdom about American military performance in Vietnam.

Think about it, maybe it can only be declared a propoganda victory because guys like Cronkite said it was.  What if they had just reported it as a major military defeat for the VC and NVA?  What would it have been then?  Were the the reporters actually the cause of it being a political victory?  Could they, with a little wisdom and judgement have caused it to be differant?
