Crash landing on Airfield
« on: May 11, 2007, 01:01:32 AM »
I was coming in with a pilot wound and as I was slowing down on the deck, I blacked out and ended up getting my prop and wheels. and not being on the runway.  I got a bit annoyed.

I was hoping that we could possibly impliment some sort of 3/4ths points for a crash landing within oh say 250-300meters/yards of the runway, that way if we **** up or are wounded we still are able to get better than if we were to crash somewhere in the boonies and bail, or ditch, etc.

Just a hopeful suggestion
Thanks

You get all your "points" if you ditch exept 25% bonus perks.

and it's not even about the points, I just think that crash landing within a certain proximity of the runway should still result in a sucessful rtb, even though your plane is a litte beat up.

Yeah i brought this up a while ago. got shot down because people said "you have to stop the line somewhere". so they figured that the runway is the "logical" place to stop that line.... come on, i could get out of the plane and push it onto the runway. or perhaps the ground crew could run over and help. But this is WAR!!! ground crews didn't do thier jobs in the heat of a battle around the airfield.
[/sarcasm]

Now. why not make the square tile of the field be a place to allow successful landings. And make planes able to land anywhere a GV can make a successful landing.

GVs are able to make a successful landing ANYWHERE on map. You really want that for planes too?

Why not? if gvs can do it, why not planes? It makes no less sense allowing a panzer to land while on an nme base than a plane doing it.

Sure you want to have the GVs drive all the way back to a friendly base ? ;)

And just because GVs can do something weird right now, it's not a valid argument for enabling planes to do the same...

What i dont get is someone can land perfectly on the area around the runway and get a ditch.
The same dude a few moments later can CRASH land missing a wing, completly augers and destroys the plane beyond any flyable reason.

they exit, and are perfectly alright. 0.o

Dunno about ya'll but if the pilot survives, he should get his kills.

If i have to drive to base in TT to land kills, those darn toolshedding GV drivers should have to also. :p :lol

But if the wings are completely destroyed or lost. then how could he get his kills? they didnt just go home and say, "i shot down the whole luftewaffe today!" the guncams confirmed thier "official" victories.

You are "successfully rtb" neither captured nor killed, where is your problem? If you want "name in lights" try harder and land on runway/concrete.

You don't lose any kills ever. Land, ditch, crash, bail: You still "get them".

land on the runway, or live with it, this morning i ran outta gas, and had numerouse parts missing off a 38, an nme buzzed me I paniced and slid off the runway, does it suk? yes, do I think we should wienerise the current method and  start divying out percentages? no

the line has to be drawn somwhere, as soon as they change it some guy will come on and complain about being just a little outside the field and ditching, and could the landing areas be a little bigger?
NO
dont care what you think :)
