Almost invisible tanks?

I was it my 190 A8 last night, with a bomb.  I can see tanks at 800, they see me at 4k.  Kinda messed up?  I can no longer dive bomb tanks.

Hit Shift F1. Also, the detail sliders in video setups may cull certain objects if you slide them too far to the "economy" side of things.

Well think about it in real life though... let's say.. a REAL tank was sitting in some REAL brush... and you flew a REAL plane over it... are you positive you'd see it.. even as close a 800?  With the camoflage paint schemes and lack of icons..  I dunno it'd be a tough call.

Then again.. if you were a gunner in the tank.. how far away would you see the plane?  I can guarantee it'd be much easier for the tank to see your plane, than vice-versa... and from a much further distance...

Yes, I would. Ive routinely had to spot tougher. Hell, when we have rope breaks at my field, ive been asked to spot a tiny piece of gray rope with an 'O-ring' on it from 1,500 ft up.

Actually shift+f4 gives a far more range on gvs from planes.That is ground mode.

The red icon is nice a give away from GVs to aircraft, no real hiding from your icon.  I think many more GVs would not die to bombs as often if the red icon from GVs to Air were not a factor.

Personally, I'd like to see all but the green "friendly" icons taken away.

I would like to see the green icons off as an option.  Right now I can see all friendlys, all off, and plane type.  It would be nice to have just bad guys option.

I have no problem seeing the dot of an enemy vehicle (no icon) from a couple of miles away at 10,000 feet.

I guess you should play with your video settings.

[EDIT]  BTW, I'm not sure what all modes are available but you can toggle icon modes by hitting (I think it's) control I.  I use it often to see what other friendlies are flying.

Until the recent version with the new terrain, I could spot a GV with no icon too, but no more.  

Thanks for reminding me to check the video settings.  I am running 512, with distance maxed at 3 miles, and the detail slider set to about 80% in all but the worst furballs.  

(me thinks gamma needs adjustment...hummmm)

I run ground detail at 3 miles and the top slider at minimum.  Vehicle dots practically jump out at you.

I also use this setting when in a vehicle.  It gets rid of all the tree clutter and lets you see enemy dots miles out.

God I hate giving away all my secrets!

This has happend to me, where you cannot see the icon until you are almost over them. (If it is a flak you are dead) I try to avoid flaks...

I'm in shift f1 also...When the icon pops up its about 800-600 .
