It is because it is a hit-'n-run plane.

For example, n00b asks "how do i fly this plane?"

Obvious response is to..

Hit
Run
Rinse & Repeat

Excluding 30mm, try setting others further out.

350 or so is really good in the G-6 with gondies. When your convergence is set at 200 those wing cannons are already spacing rounds at a big distance at 400 yards... making those shots almost entirely ineffective. At least with 350 you can still up close... but you don't have to close to 200 to get the perfect hit.

I've got my G-2 and G-6  3 x 20mms set at 400  at the moment.

Same deal with the 190s. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.

(Go offline and try it out with the .target command, you'll see what I mean)

As a habit, I just dont shoot farther than 200. My mind is trained not to pull the trigger any farther out. EXCEPT on the Bf-109s. That convergence is set depending on the type of fight im looking at.

Anything slower you can run from, but if they're good, they're probably slippery planes to hit.

Trouble with the 14 is it's perked whenit shouldn't be,

I can se why someone might have quickly thought to perk it but you have to consider aces high mentality not real life. IN WW2 a pilot's life often depended on altitude and speed so yes dogfights would stay high for a long time, perfect for the 14.

But in AH it's different. too many people get down 5 or 10 k from thier starting alt too  often in a dogfight.

Think about it, the spit 14's 'uber' region is 20k+.
Now try and remember the last 20 k  dogfight that started at 20k+ and was finished up there.......

So really there is no need to perk the spit 14. I Know it's like only 10 perks but doing the just thing and unperking would open it up to a lot more players to learn in. and maybe keep some fights high rather than a constant running sloggin match that keeps clipping the trees.

A bit of a tangent but.......

The Hawker Tempest Mk.V (Series II) is the a/c in the game. This differed from the S.I with the addition of bomb racks, shorter-barelled cannon and the ability to carry droptanks.

Btw, the engine is a Napier Sabre IIB, 24-cylinder, 2,180 hp, sleeve valve liquid-cooled, H-type inline engine. Big mother it is.

And really, i passionately hate seeing Tempest pilots. I love the plane, wonderful machine but all Tempests EVER do is run away come back and HO then run for home after they've missed. Holy... one annoying aircraft in this game. I'd much rather see an La-7. At least they use their ailerons once in a while.

By that route the 51D, La-7, and 109k-4 should be perked. I am personally tired of the 51 runs at 20k. The are more disruptive to great gameplay than anything else. IMO anyway.

Krusty said it best, At least La-7s use there ailerons once in a while!
