More on why the illegals aren't illegal anymore..........

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55785

seems this person saw it as a done deal.

i think its a myth.

It ( a North American Union, like the European Union)will never happen.

Sure, Mexico, USA, and Canada will cooperate more and more via the SPP discussions, and entities like the Teamsters will try to make hay about it.  but there won't be an "Amero" currency and Americans (and Mexicans or Canadians for that matter) will never give up their sovereignty as is foretold by the various anti-SPP groups.

Wrag, hopefully the final version of the immigration bill (whatever its called) will be better than what it is now...

That just depends on if you can read through all 4000 pages of it now.

Lindsey Graham (One of my Senators) is among the group trying to ram this illegal alien amnesty down our throats... HOWEVER the following is a letter from My other Senator, Jim DeMint:

Dear Mr. Xxxxxxx ,

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the need to reform our current immigration system .   I value your opinion and would like to share my thoughts about this important matter .

We must stem the flood of illegal aliens into our country and take control of our borders. You will be pleased to know that I voted for, and Congress passed, the Secure Fence Act and its funding last fall. This bill authorizes 850 miles of physical fencing along the border with Mexico and $1.2 billion for its construction. The bill also strengthens operational control of all borders and ports through additional physical barriers, fencing, and greater use of state-of-the-art technology and surveillance.  Only when we have true border control will comprehensive reform be realistic.

As for people who are already in the United States illegally, I do not support any form of amnesty and will continue to vote against it.  We cannot reward illegal behavior with a path to citizenship, voting rights, or Social Security benefits.  Rest assured that I will continue to be a vocal supporter of reserving Social Security only for American citizens who have legally paid into the system.

I believe America is a land of hope and opportunity.  But, the price of participation is to obey the law and enter our country through legal channels.  I will continue voting to maintain the rule of law, ensure the safety of our homeland, and uphold the sanctity of American citizenship.

Thank you again for sharing your views with me.  Please feel free to contact me in the future about anything important to you or your family .  It is an honor to serve you and the people of the State of South Carolina .

Sincerely,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator

Neo-Liberals wanting to form the legal structure of a North American Union is not a myth, but also not a predestined reality.

It's definitely not desirable at this point in time.

If you want to compare the idea to the EU, Mexico is Turkey.

I've learned enough about the Immigration bill now to know that i would NEVER go for this thing without major thoracic surgery being done on it.

Mr No Name, thank goodness for Jim DeMint.  i hope there are many more like him.

68Hawk, i say a North American Union will never happen - maybe i should never say never, but it would require a certain amount of sharing sovereignity that i don't see happening - certainly not in our lifetime.

But i do see more cooperation between Mexico, USA and Canada for addressing our mutual concerns and promotiing commerce and security to be a natural thing which makes a lot of sense.

i don't think the Security and Prosperity Partnership necessarily relates to this crazy immigration bill.  Just my .02, could be wrong.

anyway, i hope people get very vocal against this bill.

They're diametrically opposed to a Neo Conservative. There are evidently millions of them.

Of course, then you have to ask, "What the Hell is a Neo Conservative?", since that too is nothing more than a B. S. label invented by some political hack to further play on the divide found in the totally screwed up two party system.

Then they reduced the length of the fence approval to about 300 some miles that would render it completely inadequate. They have authorized the use of 4, just 4 drones to patrol the 850 miles, completely ineffective.

The fence is a 2 layer fence... how much have the built?  Exactly one layer, for 11 miles.  At this pace the 300 mile fence, which will do little to stem the flow of illegals since it protects less than half of our Southern border, will take over 20 years to build.

So much for your glimmer.

The glimmer I referred to had nothing to do with an inadequate fence proposal but rather Jim DeMints opposition to amnesty in any form for these illegal alien parasites we are being flooded with.

Neo-Cons believe in American power for the sake of American power.  They are a specific group of thought, championed by the PNAC.  Actually, they believe in American predominance through the application of hard power.  They specifically advocate making new nuclear weapons, for example.

Neo-Liberals believe in American predominance through soft power, economic power.  The snafus in Latin America and others involving the world bank and IMF (to bring general examples) show how 'neo-libs' like to try to stack things in American favor using economic power as opposed to direct military threat.

Both schools of thought are departures from the classical conservative and liberal perspectives.  Neo-lib style integration (assimilation) of economies south of our boarders is almost as bad for the people there as neo-con style military 'intervention'.

Also, each seems to confuse itself with the other.  Neo-cons are the ones that like 'conservative' politics and culture, but bring us big government and overbudgeted expenditures.  Neo-lib theory claims to champion the spread of progressive values and technologies to economies in need, but does so only at a high profit margin (economic realism?).

Its pretty scary to see who puts their name to the PNAC psychotic prescription for the future.  Go to their site and check it out.  If you don't see a name there that you recognize I feel sorry for you.  BTW, they say we should also spend the money to militarize space.

I don't have any good think tanks to recommend that represent the neo-lib school, but someone else might.  Bring it.
