Geez I did more stupid stuff than that growing up and I'm fine....mostly. BB gun wars, doing crazy stuff on my BMX bike (never wore a helmet), riding mortocycles (again never wore a helmet), skateboarding (no helmet) car surfing, cliff diving, you name it.
I swear, people now a days are so worried about about kids getting a little bump or cut that they wont even let kids be kids anymore. My ex wife is that way and pisses me off. My daughter had a martial arts sparring tournament Saturday and she got popped in the face. Her nose started bleeding and my ex freaked out. My daughter got pissed and I wiped the blood off her face and sent her back into the ring. She ended up losing her match but she got a few good pops in herself. If my ex would have had her way my daughter would have went to the ER. I was like, big deal...it's a bloody nose, get back in there and finish the fight. I'm glad she's a daddy's girl. She hung tough and didn't quit. I was proud of her. She was proud of herself, and her instructors were proud of her. My ex was on the verge of tears because my daughter was bleeding. I don't get it.
I expect my kids to get bumps, bruises, cuts, scrapes, and when it happens, I'll clean em up and send em right back out. They're kids, they'll heal, and maybe they'll learn a little something in the process. My ex thinks that makes me a bad father and that I don't care, I just think I'm being realistic about my kids.
