Folks let me preface this with these facts:

1.  I voted for Bush - twice - both times with a clothespin on my nose... The choices in both elections just plain sucked.

2.  I support the war that we are waging globally against Islamic Fascism wherever that war takes us.

3.  I am a die-hard conservative on 99% of all issues.

But this power grab is way wayyy wayyyy outside the scope of the US Constitution... THIS is why we told King George III to get bent:

The directive establishes under the office of the president a new national continuity coordinator whose job is to make plans for "National Essential Functions" of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments, as well as private sector organizations to continue functioning under the president's directives in the event of a national emergency.

"Catastrophic emergency" is loosely defined as "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions."




This is broad enough to mean anything and is as damaging to the Constitution as Lincolns suspension of Habeas Corpus and his other anti-Constitutional activities during the civil war.  This is the same thing Hitler did right after his election.

Write your Congressmen and Senators folks... This is truly dangerous.  GWB is ramming the illegal aliens down our throats along with the SPP... Time to clip the boys wings and we have Congressmen who have the power to do so.

I didn't see the other thread... But i usually don't read threads that start with poor spelling.  You know as well as I do that we were never supposed to have an all-powerful central government, much less one that has one branch - at any time.

The only difference now is that Homeland Security is in the loop.

So then, you think this expires when GWB is out in 18 months?  OR, will it continue on afterwards?  Do you think the next pres. will change it?  Most importantly, do you think Congress gives a rats a** what "the American People" think (see the new amnesty bill for that answer)?  I love when guys grab onto the "Hitler" comparison.  And by the way, what are you doing to protect the 2nd amendment, which protects the rest of the Constitution?  Are you ready to use it when the time comes, or does a trip to Canada sound more restful?
