I really like the Hellcat but it seems out classed in the MA. Any thoughts?

Forget the "but" in your sentence.

If you really like the Hellcat, it's not important if it is "outclassed". Many planes are outclassed in a way by the few top-notch latewar monsters.
Yes, on paper it is beaten by many planes in one category or the other (or even more ;) ) but MA with it's highly heterogenous skill levels, the pilot is more important.

I don't know if you you happen to know DokGonzo's Plane Evaluation Site so I am just posting the link again. Go there to compare the fighter planes we do have in game.

That is right. Fly it because you like it.

The F6F may not be the hottest ride, but it is a very decent performer - meaning, it is up to you to make it work and the cat will not handicap you. Besides, it is way cooler than the F4U.

The Corsair is the better choice if you're going to 'Lone Wolf'.

If you have a couple Hellcat friends you can bring them to the party no extra charge.

Ask Drex's, Greebo's, or Mathman's victims if the hellcat is outclassed.  For the most part, it's the stick, not the ride.

Any of the three sticks that SteveBailey mentioned will absolutely eat you alive with a Hellcat.

Fly what sticks to you, tommygun.
The pilot grows into his plane of choice.

Of course, when you LIKE uber... :D
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I quite agree with SgtPappy.  That's what I did, and it worked for me.  That's what he's doing, too.

Don't forget Wadke ... I dueled him once ... me in a Spit V and him in the HellCat.

He opened my eyes to what the HellCat can do ... have been a fan of the HellCat since. My main ride is the WildCat, then followed by the HellCat.

I have schooled many a F4U in the HellCat ... like Steve said ... it's all about the pilot.

RL has him all tied up ... he keeps threatening to come back ... and I hope he does.
