i was wondering if you ever took one our yours apart for to fix and/or clean? i was wondering if it is doable. im afraid if i open it up springs will go flying everywhere.

i have two of these, been using them for years... the better of the two is perfect except for my view switch on top. it won't display certain views any more. i make do with the button keys on the keyboard to compensate, but it takes longer so im a little handicapped.

i love this stick. i've used others. i have a saitek 52, i think it is. no comparison.

Compaired to most joysticks they are pretty easy to reassemble, you will need a soldering gun to repair the view switches witch break loose from the circut board.

Have one in pieces in a box right now Gunthr, what did you want to see?

No springs really don't go flying. Just be carefull, take your time, watch for small pieces that might drop. Handle with hat switch is probably the worst IMO.

Hmmm wonder whats up with the hat switch. I'd open it up and take a look.

Unlike some sticks I really didn't have a problem with springs flying when I opened it up. The springs on the gimbels are buried way deep inside and the springs themselves are captured, no way for them to go flying.

But you should be able to open up just the handle to look at the 4 switch's that make up the hat switch.

The buttons in my MS Precison Pro Force Feedback 2 stick handle were easy to replace. The main fire button is a DigiKey P10844S-ND. Buttons 2, 3, and 4 are DigiKey P8007S-ND. They're $0.36 and $0.29 each. The hat switch buttons (which are vertical mount instead of horizontal mount) are also available from DigiKey.com. Measure the hole spacing and height and compare to these drawings:

You need a desoldering tool to remove the failed switches.

The switches are rated for 100K click lifetime. I thought mine died early, but when I estimated how many times I fired my guns it came out about 100K clicks. Kinda depressing how much I play AH.

These are the original buttons that MS used and they are cheaper here. I have aldy used these in my joystick and they work great. The link above are buttons 2-8.

The above this is the hat view switches. Again these are the OEM switches.

I seem to have misplaced the part # for the trigger switch. If I find it I will post it.

AKDogg: those switches look better (longer life) than the ones I found. I think, however, that the B3M-6009 is the main fire button, not the hat switches. The hat switches are right angle mount (also available from Mouser).

(At least this is what my version of the MS FF2 stick has. Maybe you guys are talking about a different MS stick? If so, I apologize.)

lol, yep your right, its the trigger switch. I must have mixed my bag up. I guess I lost the part# for the hat switches but have 13 of those switches, hehehe.

Looks like the hat switches are either bf3-3102 or bf3-3122. I think they bf3-3122.
