shooting a falling or burning plane shows no class but what really burns my 6 is finding a plane no smoke flying nicely, all parts are visable...you blow off his wing and get an assist. why? i'm the one who took him out of the sky. i dont wanna hear about pilot wounds. the guy is still flying and capable of killing so obviously the PW is not the superior shot..the wing being blown off is the kill shot. i want my well deserved kill.
and again...you see a 1v1, u ask if they need help.dont just jump in...little rude isnt it. and i dont wanna hear about "its your $15". every game has ettiquette..learn it.

I do the same.

A couple of days back a countryman (chesspiece) stole my kill and he got jumped by a con. I got on the cons six and didnt fire a shot or check his 6 until he had killed the killstealer. I shot the enemy down while the killstealer was in his chute watching. He gave me hell on txt and i calmly told him that i didnt save his arse because he had blatantly stole my kill. Didint hear from him for 10 mins. He then squeaked abit more but obviously he got muted again. :)

I wont say his name but he squeaks alot on this BBS too so he will prolly be here soon.

Kill stealing a burning or obviously tumbleing dead plane is crap.  I have had it done to me, so I make great efforts not to do it to anyone else.  I know that we should not play with our food (though I am guilty of that at times too, it is sooo fun to chip away with twin 7.9mms) and kill quickly but there are times where one beats the crap out of an enemy and then some Jonny Q. Newblet swoops in and clears one's 12 or waits till one takes the guys wing off and as he is falling fill the carcass with lead.  Then instead of that gratafying kill message one gets an assist.  Though it really does not bother me as this game is still fun most of the time, and at the end of the day I and my squadees know whoom actually killed what.  :furious

Really, I could care less about HO's, vulching, cherry-pickers, etc. but kill stealing really gets under my skin.

What gets under my skin, is  greedy score/killz colectors vets, whinning and screaming at poor nobs for strafing a wounded plane ,  let the squekers  land 2 killz, makes them happy,

i saw some really phatetic ones last night, actaully pretty funny cause it was a guy stealing kills from his own squadmates. i guess TBM's and SBD's with no wings might look like their in a bomb run 3k short of the field.

Heres my rules:

1) If someone steals my kill, but its not totally dead, ill steal it back.
2) If the enemy is near me, shooting near me, or goes into my crosshair, i fire
3) If the dweeb does take the kill, no apology, nothing, i will steal from him, per plane stolen from me.
4) If the dweeb is in trouble, i will not help, and kill the enemies killing him only once he is dead

Why are AH'ers so unrelentingly unpleasant to newcomers?

Can't you remember when you were a newcomer?  Don't you remember your heart racing?  When I first played Air Warrior, 20 years ago, I thought I was going to have a heart attack when entering a fight.  Under those kind of conditions a newcomer is likely to do something stupid in the heat of battle, like try to kill an easy target.

Can't you cut them just a little bit of slack?  Do you really want to annoy them and drive them away from AH?  Do you really want HTC to make less money?

Not all are, and I will admit I was for a short time.  I learned the ropes on my own, reading the documentation and practicing offline for several weeks.  It didn't help my success, but at least I knew how to open the bomb bay doors, and what happens when I Alt-F4 long before I logged on to the MA.  I will admit I answered a few stupid questions with "RTFM" since this is the way I learned.

After I was asked to join a squad, I realized they were taking time with me, so I should do what I could to pass the help on.

Many of the Alt-F4 repeat offenders are loney people that most likely would get their arse beat if they were as rude in RL as they are in the game.  Since they have the internet to protect them, they can get away with it.

Squelch the jerks, and do what you can to help.  I have been thinking of going to the TA for an hour a week and offering to help someone get the basics down.  If everyone would do that, I would guess things would get better in the MA.

I hardly ever see anyone fire on a plane that is obviously completely disabled and going down.

I agree - I see it once in awhile but not all that often. And I almost never see a name I recognize doing so.

I do think however there are 2 distinct classes of this, and some confusion over which is which:  When the bandit is OBVIOUSLY dead versus when you THINK he's obviously dead because you're sure you've killed him.

Too many times I've watched what looked like the entire tail section fall off a bandit only to be surprised when the bandit maneuvers hard again.  And on top of that, it's way too easy to miss seeing a plane lose parts to someone else's guns while maneuvering to begin with.

So I personally tend to give the benefit of the doubt most of the time, unless it's truly blatant (like someone following a tumbling, one-winged aircraft down 2 -3 Km in order to shoot it.)

What I've been doing is if I've just blown away a vital part - wing or tail - and the plane is still in the air in an area where there are multiple friendlies, I'll announce that he's without wing/tail/whatever on range radio.  Mostly just to inform folks still engaged that he's not a threat any more, but I suspect it might minimize any contemplated foolishness, as well.

I was in B24's the other night getting chased down by a rather upset Corsair (well I had just sunk his carrier).

I wasn't overly concerned because he was showing all the classic signs of just crusing nice and slowly into my laser tail gun death-zone, but even so, I was pleased to spot a friendly 190 sneak up behind him. With the F4U about 800 out, the 190 gave him a burst and set him on fire, then pulled away.

Unfortunately, at this point the F4U, although burning, is still resolutely cruising up behind me. At D600 he opens up on me and I do likewise killing him almost instantly. I got the kill.

The 'friendly' 190 pilot went ape, telling me what bad form it was to fire on a burning plane and that was the last time he'd ever help me out.

Well cheers 190 dude :aok
