Need some help on a B-17
« on: May 28, 2007, 04:31:56 PM »
A buddy of mine who is a member of my motorcycle forum recently showed us some pictures of his Dad..who was the ball turret gunner on a B-17 called "Chief Wahoo".

Can anyone help me find some information for him on this particular plane? Also any photos would be great also. I figure with so many propeller heads this would be the perfect place to ask for help!
Thanks in advance ladies and gents!

A fairly famous name.  Seems like there was a LIFE article about that bird.

Let me go through my stuff when I get home.  At work for the moment.

Can you check with your buddy to see if Dad was stationed in England, or was in the Med with the 15th AF.

More then one Chief Wahoo out there I am afraid.

He told me that he flew out of N. Africa with the 97th BW and participated in the raids on Sicily and then North on in to Germany.
