Y'alls thoughts/experience with cable pullers
« on: May 29, 2007, 04:55:47 AM »
I have noticed a rash of general dbeewery known as "cable pulling" becoming quite a problem lately. I consider it to be highly lame and cheating, and well just all aroound gaming of the sim so to speak.  I just wanted to know what y'all think or have seen of this epidemic.

With the recent heavy storms through the mid west, I'm betting the internet service there is in shambles.

You're not running into people 'cable pulling' on purpose to warp. You're running into normal disrupted internet due to weather and damaged connections.

Our connections are all affected when service is disrupted and it will take a bit of time to get things repaired.

If I understand this correctly-there is supposed to be several members of the AH community that actually-physically- pull the cables to cause a warp?  Theoretically?  But seriously, if that's true-that might be the absolute dumbest thing I have heard for a human to do.  Good luck Richard Cranium, that's weak.  Please, and I know you will, correct me if I'm wrong.

I hope youre not calling me the richard cranuim, but if you are, I do not condone cable pulling, nor am I going to correct anyone.  I was just asking if anyone else has seen this and what y'alls thoughts are

I've had "cable-pulling" type encounters, but who knows--no one admits to doing such.  A few times ive had a plane warp just as I was going to shoot--quite frustrating.  I've heard some people warp by just takin screen shots, which if true is lame too.

Unless your standing behind some guy at his house and SEE him mess with his cable, how would you KNOW its "cable pulling" and not internet related problems?

I think there is a rash of people complaining about something they "heard of" from somebody else, beware !!!! the sky is falling !!!!

I was flying around a quiet enemy base when a 109 upped. I shot both of his wings off and fell from the sky. Did I get a kill? No. Oh well, guess he got disconnected.

About 3 minutes later, another 109 took off. I only took off one wing that time. Still, no kill. This made me wonder if it was now necessary to make a plane explode in order to get a kill.

A couple minutes after that (you guessed it) a 109 is coming up to me. That time, I banged him up bad and he started spiraling to the deck. I stayed on him and made him explode. I got a kill and a name. Guess what - I checked the roster right after that and his name was nowhere to be found. He was just a little late that time, I suppose.

All of this leads me to believe that as this player realizes that he's  going down, he desperately trys to alt-f4 in an attempt to cheat death.

I don't really care about not getting credited for kills, as long as I  know I killed them. It kinda adds a fun new challenge (not that I need anymore challenges in this game) to try to not only kill someone, but to also get credit for that kill.

And now for a meaningless and random emoticon:
That's all.

i,m not going to assume anything.

but i do have to ask myself why this guy i,m flying against doesn,t warp

untill i,m on his six????

repeatedly!!!

i,ve been circling fights where i have seen this happen to other folks also!!

now i,m not gonna "assume" anything, BUT it does make one wonder.

I have read a bajillion of these "Cable" puller post and the common thread in all of the posts is that this "phenomenon" happens as soon as someone is on their 6.

Think about it ... every known "Cable Puller" waits until someone gets on their 6 to start whatever it is that they are being accused of ?

Nope ... they don't do it before, inorder to prevent someone getting on their 6 ... they do it only when their 6 has been compromised ... strange. If I were to imbibe in this tactic, I surely would do it BEFORE you got on my 6.

It couldn't be a mixture of a bad connection, lost packets, and flight smoothing code ... it has to be someone "Cable Pulling".

i agree with you slapshot

but if these people are indeed "cable pulling" they aren,t that sharp in the 1st place.

Again----i,m assuming nothing. it could very well be bad connections etc, etc.

But it sure does smell funny.

agreeably yours,
