Gustav radiator shut-off valve

The Gustav had a cut-off valves for each of their wing radiators, so if they had a coolant leak in one of them the pilot could shut it off to save fluid.  Would be nice to have.

It also had a gas line that went to the windscreen so they could spray fuel on it to wash away any oil that may have gotten on it.   Also would be nice to have.

Spitfires VIII, IX, XIV and XVI had an automatic one.

Cut off to the oil coolers in the wings, I think.

Interesting..

Once they lower the cooling capacity, would they have to throttle back so they wouldn't overheat?

Or would it overheat anyway, and doing that just buys time?

The plane would still overheat, but in many cases it gave the pilot enough time to get back to his airfield.
