What does BnZ mean. I have been playing for a while and don't know what that stands for.

Krusty, I take 50% and a drop because it leaves me with more fuel than 25% and a drop, and I expect to have more than one fight. ;)

Drop tanks add weight, and drag.

Go with 100% then if you can, hit shift+f and change to your wing tanks.
With less fuel in your wing, every plane rolls better.

Take advantage of that, keep hitting Shift+f untill the color turns back to white.
If you do not, you will find your engine cutting out,and never turning back on again. "white is auto tank change"

Drop tanks do add weight and drag.

That's why you drop them when combat is imminent. You go from heavy and sluggish to light weight and nimble in the blink of an eye.

You go with full internal tanks into combat you're going to be unneccessarily heavy and slow and in a P40 you'll need all the help you can get.

actually, the P40E has 6 50s, they are just as good as a P51D , F4U-1, F4U-1A, F4U1D, F4U-4, F6F5 etc etc........

and Logan asked for tips, because he does not have the option to fly the P47D40 , he is flying this plane in a scenario........

Your Energy Management is critical in this plane, do not expend your energy Turning and Burning........ check out DoKGonzo's performance comparison charts ( http://gonzoville.com/ahcharts/index.php )

using DoKGonzo's performance comparison charts, compare your P40E to the following planes you will be up against:

The Axis has the following:Bf 109G-6's, Bf 109G-2's, FW 190A-5's, Bf 110G-2's, C.205's, Ju 88A-4's, Ju 87D-3's, and C.202's.

Now after Studying /Reviewing find out where your P40E performs as good or better as all these plane types. Next find out where in the flight envelope all these different plane types beat the P40E..........

Once you have done this. Then in every "Weak Area" work out some wingman tactics / group tactics to overcome these weaknesses.......this is how you go about doing it when talking about Scenarios.......

hope this helps.......

Spot on, TC!

Now, Sir, in your spare time, will you teach me to fly a Corsair?

Thank for the tips. The scenario beta was an eye opener. I got into a high alt dog fight witha group of 109's. I did well until I menuever and the darn plane went into a flat spin. I could not recover and crashed:( . The flat spin occured twice. I was able to recover only once. The p40 stinks at alt above 14k or so. I did damage a 109 and klilled a 110 I think.

Logan6,
you can load the Training arena Terrain offline, and practice flying the P40E from one of the 20K alt or 30K alt bases...take 30 minutes or say a few times a week before frame starts and really put the P40E thru its paces at high alt.so you get comfortable with how it reacts up high........

also do a search for Widewings post on High Alt   Air Combat/flying
