Alright, my new PC I was talking about is up and running, but here's the problem.
I'm running nTune to not overclock it, just to monitor my temps. The GPU temp at IDLE is 56-58C in an Antec case with 4 120mm case fans and tons of open space and vents.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? It's not over clocked, it's running at factory settings, 513/793. I thought maybe it was a read error, but nTune and ATI Tool say the same temperature. Also, it doesn't detect the fan speed even though the fan is running. I can not even change fan settings because it is grayed out.
Is it just me or am I having a lot of trouble here? (possible a bad card?) Under load it runs to 75C and has overheated as my PC froze up.
I'm running it with an e6600 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, Gigabyte nForce 650i, with 2 gigs of DDR800 ram. This system is brand new, only a day old.
Any help would be well appreciated it.
By the way, I only have the PCIe power connector from the power supply connected to it, otherwise it's only connected to the motherboard via PCIe slot. Is there another power plug in for the video card on the motherboard, because I fould a 4 pin power port that has PCIE printed on it.
