I wasn't going to chime in but man, some of you guys have to get a sense of humor.

Haven't you seen that late night ad for this over the counter pill called Focus Factor?  I've seen it so much I can, and almost did, recite it verbatim (with an AH twist).

Far from any kind of whine, I was laughing the whole time I typed it.

BTW, I play in EW and MW at least a couple nights each camp and while I often find good fights there, this came to me after reading SHawks post regarding needed changes and a lot of posting players feelings (including mine) that EW/MW and LW scores should be seperated, so there IS a grain of truth in my "joke ad".
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Interesting. WW-2 had hundreds if not thousands of -even escorted- bomberruns on German factories, shipyards etc. Numberous brave people lost their lives with it. Those bomberruns where a significant strategic part of the allied forces strats. Would you dare to qualify WW-2 Lanc-riders as milkrunners?

Seems to me that Aces High -as a WW-2 sim- comes as close possible to the historical reality. Including the bomberbuns on factories.

So, whats the issue here...............

AH is not a ww2 sim, it is a combat sim using ww2 equipment.

yes, there were many brave people who fought in ww2, i don't think that is disputed at all.  however, these brave pilots didn't have it so easy as some milk runners have it....waltz to target, drop ord, turn around at your leisure, drop more ord, rtb, no resistance, rinse repeat.  though someone should up and attack them.

point is that it is a game, and you could do the exact same thing offline, and not have to pay $15/month.  So basically people who do this are paying $15/month for the recognition that they score well in game, and maybe a noob or to will look up to them.  kinda sad, they could just pay me $15/mo, and i will put up a web site telling the WWW how great the customer is, but sadly no takers yet.

that said, who cares it's a game, and if you can't have fun playing, then what is the point.  if you want to milk run stuff in isolated areas of low numbered arena's, and think you are in some way honoring those who sacrificied everthing for their real country, go ahead, its your $15.  honor through path of least resistance, woot!:huh

First, it's not WW2, it's not a WW2 simulation. It's a game.

When you accept that, the issue should become more clear.

Too funny.

So when you and those like you milk the empty EW arena and get that oh-so-exiciting "YOU HAVE WON THE WAR" message is it as thrilling as winning a game of solitaire? As exciting as beating yourself in a game of checkers?

Because in essence, that's what you are doing.  The incredibly funny part is that you PAY to play against no opposition. You could do the same thing offline for..........nothing.

It occurs to me that Pluck apparently has a million dollar idea that could cross all game genres.

I should get involved with ownership of some online game that charges $15 a month and allows players to read some little "YOU HAVE WON!!!" message about every 2 hours of play. The challenges should be simple, requiring little mastery of mouse and keyboard and it shouldn't take much thinking to play. If there's that many of you guys out there, I'd be rich in short order.

Ok Pluck, so lets REVERSE what you say.  "Honor through path of GREATEST resistance?"   Wtf?

Again, I think you are one of those players that never GV's...never resupplies bases, never runs troops?

You may want to look into Microsoft Simulator and ACM to your heart's content.

This is a team oriented game with a final goal of "winning the war".  Until HTC removes the "YOU HAVE WON THE WAR" concept, get use to sneaky base taking.

No one disputes the bravery or lives lost during WWII or any other war on either side.  I've never been in the military but if you ask me those who put their lives on the line to defend their nations should be held in the highest regard.

That said this is not a war.  It's a game.  Your life isn't on the line.

You obviously don't understand the term milk-running.  Milk-running, simply defined, is any act designed to improve your score/rank while facing zero opposition.  Those brave gentlemen you mentioned above certainly faced opposition and if you fly a mission in-game into defended enemy territory then it's not a milk-run.

Aces High is not a WWII sim.  It leaves much to be desired if that were true; no historical maps, same country planes/vehicles opposing each other, no ground troops... you get the idea.  Aces High is a WWII based combat flight sim that happens to include other aspects (i.e. GV's, CV's, etc.) to enhance gameplay.

So, the point is, relative to your comments there is no issue and as I stated above it was all meant to be a joke to begin with.  Hey, I milk-run occasionally.  It's relaxing.

Some play the game to fulfill the actual parameters that it was designed for, which is to overcome and conquer bases, and eventually the country, thus winning the war/game.

This is a false assumption.

The game was designed to have fun at different types of combat. Conquering bases is just a means to promote combat and hence fun. But by no means is it more or less justified than going out and just mixing it up.

Remove buffs, Gvs  and base taking from this game and people will still pay to play.

Remove fighters and watch it die in an instant.

The game is about the fight.
