Problems aiming? Target won't line up? Bouncing?
« Reply #30 on: July 18, 2007, 01:52:00 PM »
I was doing all that I could do with the damping and deadbangs and still no rudder to right when applied; plus even the left, although it will comply, I have to fight with it just to get it to fully deploy.

What would be a good JS with CH pedals? or would I still be able to use this stick with pedals?

Yes, you can use any sticks/pedals in combination.

Im still using my Cyborg. After my rudder axis was broken, I aquired a X-45, only using its throttle (including the rockers for rudder control).
Now I have pedals and still use my Cyborg.

My current setup:
Saitek Cyborg Gold: X and Y axis (elevator & aileron)
Saitek X-45: Throttle only (and all buttons on it of course). The X-45 joystick is not used.
Simped Vario Pro USB: Rudder control
TrackIR: View control
Steam: DrKalv

I don't scale. Tried it years ago, didn't like the results. Been flying "flat, standard" for about 15 years.

I use only Logitech Extreme 3dPro sticks. I get very very good results both under LINUX and under Windoze XP.

After about 2 years, when these joysticks begin to spike, I give them away and buy new ones. I tell the people I give them to that they will never be as silky smooth as a brand new stick, but they can be made to last for another 1 to 2 years of acceptable service with a trick: Spend half an hour just "exercising" the stick. Move it in all directions" forward, back, left, right, twist clockwise, twist ccw, full throttle, half throttle, minimal throttle, making sweeping arcs and circles with all controls. I believe that this exercise wipes oxides from inside the potentiometers, and perhaps it spreads residual lubricants more evenly within them. Regardless of what is happening inside, the exercise DEFINITELY works, and spiking is minimized for a month or more thereafter. Repeat as necessary.

I don't want to imply that the system described by Krusty isn't good for others; I'm just revealing what works for me.

the logijunks have good boards and response .. just terrible cruddy cheap POS potentiometers  .

(see pic for the different  pots  , these are all the types used except for the Hall effect shown.)

As a footnote, I was wrong about deadband.

Deadband takes your scaling and just shifts it so that it kicks in with more pressure on the stick. Meaning you have to move the stick a lot more before even getting minimal signal to move the control surfaces.

I would still suggest scaling up a ramp than upping deadband, if it is possible.

They're all on picture hangar.

I wanted to redo it and host them on my webserver but I totally forgot. I've been busy this weekend. If I can remember to, I'll upload them elsewhere.
