I have the RCA H100A MP3 player. I think its the 4GB version.

The Ipod's are too flashy and overpriced. I just wanted smething to play music, not put on a show while its doing so.

This was two years ago when he got it for Christmas and they may have worked that kink out since then but I haven't tried since we loaded the software on my laptop from work and he uses that for uploading his songs to the player.

Check your drivers. I have a Creative Zen Nano and an AMD CPU.

Works fine.

Back on topic: I don't like integrated devices any more than I like integrated software. It usually sucks.

I have a cellphone.
I have an MP3 player.
I have a digital camera.
I have a GPS receiver.

Any of these can fail without detriment to the other three.

Small problem with that, Sandman, is that the figure is for the parts alone and doesn't reflect any R&D, building the factory lines, warranty, software team, etc.  A handful of iPhone parts does not an iPhone make.

This assumes, of course, that the profit margin of a company that sells this product needs to be defended, which in this country, is ridiculous.  This isn't the cure for cancer, it's a phone, and you set a price that will make you a profit that the market will bear.  The sale numbers of this last weekend seem to suggest that the 2nd was met, we'll just have to assume that the 1st was too.

I dunno chairboy, the iphone didn't sell it out did it?

And the initial rush will probably account for most of the sales (75% maybe?).

Gonna be a lot of angry people if apple suddenly start dropping the price in a month or two.

Why would they cut the price?  And are you asserting that they will sell less than 660,000?

Maybe, given the mad rush to 'get one now', the fact they didn't sell out, makes you wonder what sales are left for them in the following months.

Two things:

iPhone sales passed 700,000 within a few days of the release, so, uh, sorry Vulcan.

Also, an insightful, no B/S review of the iPhone: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/apple/no-bs-iphone-review-276116.php

Really? Where'd that figure come from, most of the stuff I've seen says 500000-550000. An theres no shortage of iphones available on ebay.

That link only confirms what I said, both of features... any the fact that rabid mac fans will willingly throw money at Steve Jobs alter despite the junk he pushes out.

Give it 3 months and see how happy iphone users are then.

One blog and one estimate, "sold out in most stores".

Other estimates say 500000. Meanwhile there are surplus iphones on ibay not able sell for RRP.

Keep em coming chairboy :)

C'mon, you're not even trying.

First link didn't work... second link said:
"The iPhone itself is off to a ring-a-ding start, selling an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 units the first weekend. (Apple and exclusive carrier AT&T aren't announcing figures, but the latter did say it moved more iPhones that weekend than any previous cell phone sold in a month.) "

I stopped there because I don't think you're actually reading the stuff you link too.

You're turning into a rabid apple fan chairboy... :)
