Skuzzy, thinking of returning to AH full time. Now, if I did I'd use a machine dedicated to only playing AH no other purpose. What would the best OS to use for this function? Win2K maybe? I know it's no longer offically supported but as a dedicated AH machine I don't see that I need to worry about cutting edge updates. Only interested in AH stability and performance.

Windows 2K does have the best thread management of any recent OS from Microsoft. If you are running a dual core CPU and can get Win2K drivers for the motherboard, I would fo with it.

I am not sure you can even get any of the updates for it though, from MS. If not, then it will not be a good choice due to the bugs in the early releases. In a lot of ways Win 2K is a much better OS than XP.

Yeah that was pretty much my thoughts too, thanks for the input though. Got an old copy of win2kSp4 laying around somewhere. I'll install it on one of my hotswap drives and see how it works. Thanks again, Skuzzy.

Hey Skuzzy, just installed Win2k, you can still autoupdate it, I was shocked too. I thought they'd discontinued support long ago. I'll let you know how AH2 runs on it after I get all the MS updates installed.

I think "support" means tech calls, trouble shooting, etc. I don't think they'll ever yank the updates. Not even a year ago I was able to fully update a fresh Win98 install. Almost a decade after it came out. That's just files online that you download. That's not something they need to invest time or effort into, so they're going to leave it up.
