Saw the Spruce Goose when it was originally in Long Beach.  Amazing that such a beast was able to fly.

It's the Evergreen Aviation Museum though, but you'd know that, working there and all...

It's not a Spit 14, it's a Spit 16, but you'd know that, working there and all.

The Imax opened last month, but you'd know that, working there and all.

It's an FG-1D Corsair, not an F4U4, but you'd know that......

Never took a guided tour myself, which apparently is a good thing as the staff there apparently don't know much.

I live up in Washington.  I'd love to see the Spruce Goose and the other nifty planes and do plan to visit it -- maybe later this summer with my girlfriend, who also would like to see that plane.  Benny, when I do, I'll send you a PM to see if you'll be around and invite you out to dinner with us after the museum.  I'll see if Tinman would like a free dinner with us, too, as long as he wants to join us and isn't too curmudgeonly. :)

In that picture of the Spruce Goose in "flight"- is it still in ground effect?  Or does having high mounted wings get it out of ground effect?  And why do transport planes always seem to have high mounted wings with no dihedral?

(Hey.. you never know, there might be an aircraft expert here who could actually answer that for me. ;) )

You might want to pick a cooler time of the year. The museum itslef is built like a greenhouse with no air conditioning and apparently no plans to install any either. The Imax and future Space Center do have a/c though.

I didn't realize there was such a collection of a/c there. I'll have to drive up and then head out over to the Tillamook Air Museum. Haven't been there in years...

Trap and I went to the air museum in Eugene too, kinda small but neat for $5 bucks. Been to the tillamook air museum also, pretty damn huge and intimidating in the blimp hanger! I mean it even has it's own indoor clouds!

Still gotta get up to the Goose though. Trap and I are planning on heading up there sometime this summer. Being in Eugene it's not to far.

How many pilots in AH are in Eugene anyway?
Or the general area?

As an aside, I went to OSU. GO BEAVS!!
