This is where I disagree with ya Josh and Plat

"Blut und Ehre" is specific to the Hitler Youth.  There is no other historical connection, certainly not to a Luftwaffe squadron or group.

Regardless of intent,t he name represents the Hitler Youth and in that context is rather tactless and tasteless for Aces High.

I'll agree that in the end it's HTC's call

I worked Gang-Intel for the S.C. Department of Corrections and can tell you that the younger Nazi make up for the lack of females for the older Nazi in prison.

If they had used the english words, I wouldn't even have raised a eyebrow.

The German words "Blut und Ehre" are NOT just only the two words Blood & Honor. Their meaning is beyond their english counterparts, meaning something different.
(Just like the word "liberal" is the translation of the German word "Liberal" - but it has in reality a completely different political connotation in the USA than in Europe)

It's a fixed term in the German language ONLY used to depict nazi ideology. Actually it's describing it's very most core. It's not only the Hitler Youth motto, but  was introduced as a "judicial "concept" in the Nurenberg Laws in 1935, which denaturalized the German Jews and was the base for any racial discrimination in the Third Reich. Actually the central part was the "Gesetz zum Schutze des deutschen Blutes und der deutschen Ehre" -"The Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour". There are few terms linked as closely to that ideology as this one. You instantly connect this term with National Socialism & Holocaust.

It's easy for an American to see only two foreign words there - It's about impossible for a German that actually speaks that language.

I think even the English words don't have any other connotation than neo-nazism. Do a Google search with term "blood and honour". As Wikipedia says:
"Blood & Honour is a neo-Nazi music promotion network, founded in 1987, that is comprised of white power skinheads ."

I’m w/ Lusche.

If the slogan had anything to do w/ a “German Army” squad then I would say by all means use it.  I am 1/2 German & my Grate Opa was in the “German Army” (Because he had to) & that motto is VERY offensive and it has nothing to do w/ a German Squad.

Get this, they had Hitler Youth knives that had the swastika symbol on the grip.  The motto Blut und Ehre! (Blood and Honor) began to be etched on early knife blades.

I personally would go w/ this squad name III/JG53 “Pik As”  VERY awesome German squad historically correct at that.

We should have all ficticious squad names.  Because somewhere, there is somebody related to somebody shot down by somebody that might get offended by  these historical squad names...or bomber groups that leveled a country...or dropped Atomic bombs...or etc.  Rediculous.

Whats sad is grown men getting all bent out of shape over a slogan.  There are squad names out there with SS in them, names you cant even type on here, gets the **** treatment, plays on words...but this gets everyones panties in a wad?  Somebody always finds something offensive.

fyi...from time spent near these guys, they are all tools...I just dont see the need to get all up in arms over the name.
