Setup for this week: Operation Sealion
« on: June 07, 2007, 11:12:58 PM »
What if Germany invaded the UK back in 1942 instead of invading the Soviet Union?  What if the German navy managed to get their carrier built, and bombed the Royal Navy into oblivion, forcing Canada and the US to retreat their navies back to the mid-Atlantic?  What if Germany landed several beach-heads?  Allies? Your job is to drive off Germany!

Didn't England thoroughly reject them, because their versions had same-handed props?

EDIT: Or do you mean after that?

The set up is 1942.

1st and 14th FGs were initially sent to England in the summer of 42.  They  were later sent to North Africa to support Operation Torch, but they were the first USAAF fighters to arrive in England with their P38Fs and were initially part of the 8th AF.

Glacier Girl, the P38F dug out of the Greenland Ice and now restored to flight was one of those 38s that was headed to England.  She went down lost and low on fuel.  Operation Bolero was the name of the ferry operation that the 38s flew with B17s navigating for them on the flight to England.

Glacier Girl in fact is recreating that flight this month in a deal called Operation Bolero II so that she'll finally make England to complet the mission she started in 1942.

Here's a photo of a 14th FG P38F after it's arrival in England.

At the office so I don't have the info in front of me but if memory serves the RAF got a batch with out the counter rotating props and w/out the supercharger engines so high alt performance was poor.

given the scenario is a hypothetical, game play should factor in higher than historic accuracy anyways

P-38G added... though she'd be a bit of a squirlly one against the F-4
