Having Serious Microphone Issues
« on: June 11, 2007, 11:16:02 AM »
I always wanted to know how to use "Wave In". Yet I never wanted it to be my only option to communicating over voice. Two days ago I installed G-Force Platinum (A visualization tool for Winamp, Real Player, MS Media Player, etc...) and on the same day installed Real Player 10. Today I attempt to use my microphone to communicate with others outside of AH and all they hear is themselves. Somehow my settings were re-configured so instead of using my microphone as the input device, it's using "Wave-In" from my speakers.

I already checked all the settings that I can, all the way from System settings, to G-Force settings, to Winamp Settings, to Real Player settings. I went ahead and uninstalled Real Player 10 and G-Force Platinum and after a restart, it's still the same. My hardware settings for my input device are the same as my output device, this however cannot be changed, since I only have one video card I'm using and my speakers are plugged into it along with my microphone. Of course, they're not "combined".

My voice for AH hasn't worked for 1 year now, I have no idea why, and nobody else seems to have an idea either. Yet now it appears the only way of communicating isn't communicating at all. I just appear to be the local "echo" service.

Here's my DxDiag:

PROBLEM RESOLVED.

Turns out uninstalling the sound card, moving it to another PCI slot, and re-installing the sound card fixed it. I still have no idea what caused it to go to "Wave In".
