Not looking for an "official" statement of compatibility but might the below config work? or Has anyone had success with a similar config? Just wondering before I get started.....

System Specs: HP xw8400 workstation
Vista Enterprise 64bit
2x 3.00GHz dual core Xeon
6GB RAM
Primary drive 4x 146GB 10k SAS Raid 0
Backup drive 2x 500GB SATA Raid 1
8800GTS Superclocked 320MB
SBAudigy with 5.1 speaker setup
HP 24inch Widescreen LCD

Hrm.. I don't think many folks run AH on Xeon processors, let alone dual Xeon workstations.

I wonder if that might cause some problems?

Only other problems might include Vista (especially running 64-bit) and drivers (especially running 64-bit).

In theory it works. In practice? Well you'll have to be the guinea pig.

eh I don't mind being a guinea pig. I'll post my results when I get around to it. I would think my biggest hurdle may be peripheral drivers, we'll see.

What stick/controllers are you using? Vista drivers for them may be the hard part.

The hardware is fine. The 32 bit version of XP would be a better OS, if you want it stable and fast.

I understand where yer comin from Skuzzy.....I need to be able to access more memory than a 32bit OS will support. I suppose I could setup a dual boot env but that would mean redoing everything. Will try with what I got first, I promise I won't whine when somethin doesn't work

Hey Auger, I have an x45 and USB CH pedals. I think theres drivers for the x45 just no sst (never used that anyway). Not sure about the peds, haven't checked yet.

You mean you need more memory support than XP will allow. 32 bit OS's can address 64GB of RAM, if the memory manager is written correctly. Vista is also arbitrarily limited to how much memory it can address.

PAE allows 32 bit OS's to get passed the 4GB memory restriction. But XP never did allow 4GB anyway. These are Microsoft designed limitations.

It's slow going, kinda busy getting ready for a trip but here's where I'm at.

AH2 installed with no issues
runs with no issues (not flown yet)
60fps in tower, max slider settings (vsync enabled)
CH pro pedals installed and calibrated with no issues (driver native to vista64)
X45 downloaded and installed vista64 drivers, calibrated (no issues yet)

I only have one thing that I can't get to work.....the radio....I can hear but can't transmit. Might be able to fix it, checking on that.

what I mean is I can hear other people but they can't hear me. anyhow It's a cable connection. I guess I could try turning off the vista security.

Well vox is a funny thing... It could have to do with how Vista changed how all sound is done, or it could be your router. Not sure. If you can create a new wav file on your desktop, record it, and play back your own voice, it might be a network issue.

Can you tune vox to yourself (put your own name in the box) offline and see if you can hear yourself? EDIT: also try this online.
