What is the caliber of the manned ack (soft gun)?
I had always assumed that it was a 37mm round.
I am assuming that it is a HE round.
There is a huge diffirence between the manned ack and the Ostwind gun, a few pings from the manned ack will take out a panzer, but you can shoot a panzer all day with the Ostie gun, and be lucky to get a track.
Thanks for any responses

Though the game shows that the manned ack is a 37mm....I am sure as heck looks like a 40mm M1 Bofors, just a bad error in the labeling. The only 37mm Bofors is mostly an anti-tank gun.

BTW, if they have changed the manned ack model again while I was gone for the past couple months, sorry.

I have NO ISSUES of going back and forth between FG's and Ostie's.   I don't even zoom in, but rarely.   I just know approx. leads through practice.

Now that you mention it . . . did they upgrade the manned acks from 37mm to 40mm when they upgraded all the field ack?

I vaguely remember the upgrade being mentioned, but my brain might be lying to me.

I may be misunderstanding you but only the model of the gun was changed from a 3.7mm FlaK 36 to a M1 40mm Bofors but the labeling was NOT changed.

3.7mm FlaK 36 (Original Manned Ack gun used in AH)

40mm M1 Bofors (Upgraded manned ack)(Incorrectly labeled as 37mm)

Any truth to the rumor about putting the Ost in neutral gear will improve your aim?

The tanks will rock a lot slower if you are stopped, with your engine off, but still in gear.  (BTW, this is NOT a good thing.)  I doubt the Osti is any exception.

The best thing to do, though, is stop, shut your engine off, and put it in neutral.  Whether it improves accuracy -- I can't really say.  But it what it WILL do is allow you to hear where the planes are coming from, since their engine sounds will not be drowned out by your own.

Putting our tanks in neutral is the equivalent of a tank crew prepping the tank with balancers and readying to fire, as I've heard. But yes, tanks will roll much less when firing in neutral.
