The Thompson is nice but it's pretty heavy and complicated. I'd rather have the old M3A1 Greasegun. Much lighter, easier to maintain and fun to shoot.

:D  i like it for its rep..and the way it looks,sounds,and its 45cal if i remember right:confused:

wasn't the Grease gun 9mm or am i mistaken?

both, the M3A1 govt issue kit had barrels and receivers for 45 cal and 9mm.

I've never seen any indication the govt. issue M3's were 9mm. All the ones and literature I saw through the Army were in .45 only.

Correct.  The 9mm myth was a rumor started by europeans, mostly eastern block countries to slander the .45 ACP, and to claim that their european round was better.

Indoor gun range I shoot at rents out a full auto Thompson on "Machine Gun Night".   They rent out a bunch of submachine guns then, and it is a blast.  I went once and shot the Tommy gun, really cool.
