Please confirm this rumor....anybody ?
« on: February 10, 2000, 06:01:00 AM »
I found this on AGW, and I quote:
I saw HiTech in the AH arena last night. He was answering some questions and whatnot. Their next fighter will be
the P38. The next bomber will be the Lancaster followed by the JU88.

end quote.

Please can anybody confirm this ?

HTC, or any online at that point that saw this ?

Just wanna know, since I have promised Pyro to fly the Lancaster every single day and nothing else for one month if I(we) could get the Lancaster

Is it actually a dream coming true for me ?

I cant sleep until I know (When I know I cant sleep until I get it)
When i get it, I cant sleep because I has to fly the darn thig

Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

Lasse it is mostly correct.

What HT said was that the P-38 was the next "new" fighter we are too get. The actual next fighters will be the Spit Vb and the C.202.

And the part about the Lancaster and the Ju-88(didn't remark on variant) were correct.

Maybe it's a Ju88G - to uh, "compliment" the Lancaster...

Come on guys, it's pretty obvious what HTC is doing   They are going down the gripe list of WB ( Russian planes, C47, 109G2, LA5, N1K2) and adding some obvious ones ( 51, spits, 109s )
Next choices:
Obvious ones: P38
Gripe list: Lancaster Ju88 ( bet you it will be late model - there is nothing of early war modeled yet. )
And to add to the gripe list: Ground vehicles

fd ski, it's not just the gripe list of WB's. The "wishlist" has included these aircraft since early AW days.
I do know several AW folks very eager to fly AH when the plane set expands and they're thrilled to finally see someone who wil include aircraft only offline simms have even had in them.
I'll fly anything as long as my Deaths to Kills ratio is at least 10:1.

Assuming you are right...

So?

Why turn a positive into a negative? That is to say, as long as we are getting new planes, why not have new planes? Besides, when was responding to legitimate, respectfully submitted customer requests a bad business move?

Maybe we don't have many planes right now. We will. How they are added and by what criterion they are prioritized for addition is really moot, as in the end we will have them. I happen to like having Macchi's, Nikki's, and La5's flying around. Hope to see a Ki-44 soon, maybe an Il-2, etc. Heck, I'll fly anything.

I guess I don't see anything sinister in the approach so far.

I like the way they're going about adding the planes.  I'd never heard of the C.205 Veltro til it was added here.
and I've found it to be a right nice bird too =)

The Lancaster will be a fabulous addition to AH, and could drag a multitude of Warbirders over to AH. That being said, I still think the next planes to add after the Lanc should be the HE-111 and the IL-2. The JU-88 is a smart choice for a late war varient, but IMHO most true buff enthusiasts would prefer the HE-111 over the JU-88.

I would love to see the IL-2 here, but unfortunately I don't see much use for it with the current strat model... :/

Why IL-2? If you need some of the russian bombers, how about modeling Pe2 or something. IL-2 would be equal to Ju87 - both would be so vanurable that people would almost never fly it in main arena...

Also, now that we know P38 coming in soon, how about any model of P47 (considering the state of the main arena I hope it will be at least D model)

LLv34, if they get enough vehicles modeled, you can bet your bottom that the IL-2 will have a home here!

The Lanc only had .303's for defense, and no bottom turret.  Get lots of altitude if you want to survive in that thing.

How much alt? The ceiling was only 18-22K, depending on whether it was merlin or hercules powered.
