Check this video out and tell me why can't HTC put these wonderful graphics and add-ons to the airplanes.... such as when doing carrier landings there's an "air traffic controller", steam coming out of the carriers and supporting ships, landings lights, real looking sky and water

Can you say "Frame Rate Killer"

Eye candy is nice, but unless you have a top end machine it wont do you any good when your in a furball. There has to be a balance between playability and eye candy. I think HTC is doing the best they can right now maintaining that balance.

All those other game with the super graphics don't have upwards of 400 people logged on in a MMP arena.

This is not a frame rate killer on line and is not a box game either.

That pic is from Fighter Ace.

A game that after having 4 years of water looking like that still haven't incorporated ship usage in their equivalent of the MA.  You can't man the guns on the ships and you can't change the pre-programmed waypoints.

The water is the only thing that looks better than in the current version of AH.

The buggers also banned me from their forum for 6 months because I put a guy straight who was flaming AH after trying it for a couple of days.  I wasn't promoting nothing just stating FACTS!!!

Sooner the game dies and the rest of my beloved squad come here with me the better....

Pacific Fighters has really nice eye candy and is and older game in today's standard.  It doesn't take much of a machine to run it.  I ran it with setting cranked on a low end PC with very little problems.  If you are having frame rate problems just turn down the settings.  I am not dissatisfied with AH, but it would be nice to have a more realistic terrain.

Who would do this?

More importantly, who would pay any attention?

With friendly collisions off, ATC has no relevance.

On a rig with 2x Ge8800 GTX in SLI, any game looks nice (as with the original link).

I was taking some screenshots once of some of my skins, so I went into my vid card settings. Maxed FSAA, quality set to max, enabled EVERYTHING the card could do... Pretty much if it sounded nice, I turned it up.

Went into the game and upped the plane I needed to get screenshots of, and wow! I was surprised. The only way of describing it was "Everything Just Looked Better"! I actually thought to myself "This isn't the AH I know..."

Noticably better looking terrain, everything.

Only problem is the FPS in the gutter. It let me get my screenshots, but I couldn't fly like that.

So if you want AH to look better invest the money in a killer rig and just enable the frak out of your video settings. The guy in the above video had 2 of the most POWERFUL video cards in the world today, working in SLI. Pshaw! Of COURSE he's going to make it look nice.

Anyways, while I agree that AH could use some primping and preening in the graphics department, I hope they don't take anything from any of UbiSoft's IL2 incarnations as inspiration. I hope they come up with their own, because for the most part this game has a lot better production values than "some others".

I don't get it. I have settings maximized and I get a consistent 60-75 FPS. I am not running some top end machine either. Cost me 600 bucks. I have a 1.6 gHz processor, a gig of RAM, and a nVidia GeForce 6600. A lower-mid end machine by todays standard. I don't know what everyone else is running, but smoke and landing lights won't kill FPS, although the water could do it.

Also I forgot to mention that the above screenie has a game size of 500+mb download  and has been since January 2002.

AH does all that and more for under 100mb  (sound packs/hi res obviously push it over that)

The water does look really nice..  i bet htc is remodeling the water now, since they turned off animated water after the last update.

Well, i won't bet, but how about a theory?
