F6F question
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:17:38 PM »
why do I feel invincible when flying F6F? I feel it has more firepower than a Corsair or any plane like that even tho they have the same 6 50 cal

Big. Armor. Speed. Big wings. Small cockpit. Pretty gunsight holder. Decent turn.
Or, maybe yer just in love with it.

F6F is far from invincible. Good plane yes, invincible no. Slow, turning can be beat by corsairs (among others), poor climb, same guns, six 50 cal, as other american planes.

Nobody in this thread said the F6F is bad...

And concerning your question:

- better armor
- team tactics
- better average pilot skill (remember the Hellcat was introduced in 1943)
- much higher speed. Don't playing by the better turning Zero's rules. BnZ instead of TnB whenever possible
- better dive performance

Don't forget F6F's in air combat usually outnumbered the enemy.

I've reached a state secureness in this plane that i'm not worried about cons having any ALT or E advantage. Even the KI-84 and Nikki that gives me fits in other rides is no big deal.  Always been my favorite Navy bird and glad I've been able to really learn ths one.

It's not the plane.  It's you.  You've reached a stage in your development where you're now a good pilot.

It'll pass and disappear for the longest, most frustrating time.  Then, one day you'll realize it's come back.  You'll think you're pretty good.  And, then, it goes away again.

I love the F6F, It just seems a little slower than it should be(I'm no expert or do I have any technical knowledge whatsoever). It turns very well at high speeds and can take a beating. I flew a full sector back to base missing half a wing on each side flying with just a rudder and landed it on the runway. I don't think many planes in the game can pull that of. It Is a big fat target though so you gotta keep it fast(I should follow my own advice there). Some days I feel like I can beat anybody in the game with that bird(highly delusional there) Until I meet someone better that just destroys me(usually the first con that comes along). My favorite ride by far

(if any good F6F pilots wanna help me at any time feel free)

the F6F in this game isnt realistic
F6F-5s in real life had a choice of 6x .50cals OR 4x .50cals and 2x 20mm cannons
look it up
