got pulled over for the first time
« on: June 20, 2007, 10:42:04 PM »
so me and me friend and 3 girls were driving to drop them off around 12am when a cop pulls up behind me. so i hate when cops pull up behind me so i turned into this neighborhood and my luck its gated. so the cop gets suspecious and follows me i turn around and drive a little bit further. he pulls us over and im about to start crying literally. the reason why is becuase im 16 i dont have my 6 months (which means i cant have people in the car) and it was past curfew. so thats 2 laws im breaking lol. the cops somes to the widow and says the girl in the back wasnt wearing a seat belt. so thats 3 laws im breaking. he makes us get out of the car he serches me and the car. i didnt have anything illegal so he calls all our parents the girls got to go and my dad comes to get me at 12:30am forturnatly the cop was real nice and gave me a warning. thank god and jesus he didnt give me a ticket or i would have lost my licence until i was 18. one of the scariest moments of my life.

Hehe, had the same happen to me only I didn't get pulled over.  Turned into my friend's neighborhood, undercover cop turns right behind me so I make damn sure I'm doing under 25.  I had 4 other people in my car, only seat belts for 3 others.  Pulled over in front of my friend's house and the cop just drove past.  However, this was during day.  I've never been close to encountering the curfew stuff even being out until 4AM.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop.   Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side.   This is wrong.  It arouses contempt in the cop heart.   Make the bastard chase you.   He will follow.

Cerfew

In America, many cities and towns have ordinances (local laws) that prohibit kids under 18 from staying out (especially in groups) after midnight.

Reasoning:  Kids under 18 in groups tend to do dumb things, i.e.: underage drinking, drag racing, smoking weed, criminal damage to property, etc.

Or in the poster's case...driving around in a group and someone in the vehicle is breaking the law.

Original poster:  you are who your friends are.  Stay on the right side of the law AND make sure your friends do too.  Having any sort of tickets makes your insurance costs skyrocket (if they do not drop you altogether) and a criminal record haunts you forever.

Maybe this was a good thing to scare you into being more careful?

Good Luck!

Mistake #1 was trying to get off the road in an unfamiliar area. You would have been better off just going on your way.

Mistake #2 was you panicked at the first sign of a police officer. Granted you were out after curfew, but you made a move that showed you were breaking the law. All he did was pull out behind you. Why the sudden urge to ditch him??

Don't be afraid of the police. I don't know how many times I've seen police cruise down the highway at 55MPH in a 65MPH zone and traffic will start to back up behind them because no one wants to pass the cop. Me...I'll go past them no problem. What are they going to do to me??? NOTHING.

Almost as bad as the folks that will be doing maybe 5 over the limit on the interstate, just cruising along and then SEE a cop on the side of the road and slam on the brakes until they're goin 10 under the limit. WHY?????? By the time you see the cop he already has your speed pegged so why slow down? If he's going to come after you slowing down isn't going to help. Besides no cop in his right mind is going to come after me for going 5 over the limit, he's waiting for the idot that thinks 15 over or better is the way to go.

far too many people violate important and benificial seat belt and curfew laws.

We need to hire more police to catch em and give the police the power to simply drag them out of the cars and execute em on the spot.
