It's not that he isn't a member of the executive branch but his role is not limited to that and any restrictions derived don't apply to the legislative hat he also wears.

Well, he explicitly stated that he wasn't a member of the executive branch, so I'm gonna have to side with him I'd assume he knows what branch he's not part of.

Maybe he was misquoted? Of course he's a member of the executive branch. His role just isn't limited to that.

I reread it. He said for the purposes of securing classifed information his office was not an entity in the executive branch. Makes sense in that an executive order (not law btw) should not prevent him from fulfilling his obligaton to the senate.

As I mentioned above, he was about to have his funding under the Executive Branch funding bill removed.  Mr. Cheney has reconsidered his stance that he's not part of the executive branch as a result.

It's all the Dem's have? Somehow a topic about Cheney not even knowing what branch of the govt he's in is now the Dem's fault? Some of you right wingers sure do live in your own little fairy tale land.

Funny stuff, I guess the liberal media must have tricked Cheney in to being a moron.

I'm ready to kick Bush, Cheney and the whole Senate out over this stupid amnesty bill they are trying to sneak past us. If it weren't for the cursed conservative talk radio they might have gotten away with it. I can well understand why the enemies of liberty want to crush talk radio.

The quote that AKiron posted makes perfect sense.  He's not saying he "isn't part of the executive branch" he's saying for the purposes of securing classified info he is not.

Keep in mind all you 70%ers that the VP has a role in the senate.  I would fully agree that he would want to protect his office and staff from a frothing at the mouth witch hunt.

Every time Cheny's name is mentioned all you see is demcrats looking like a dog that want the "ball to be thrown"
