This morning I opened the game and my computer started downloading files as if there were a new patch. I got into one of the arenas and the other players said they did not download a patch. I have been playing a lot this month so it is not that I havent logged since the last patch back in April. Anyway, I'm not sure if that is related to the prob I am having now, but I thought I would mention it.

I was able play for a couple of hours; then, as I was flying, black lines started showing up on my screen. I figured I would just restart the PC and come back in and that would fix it. I restarted, opened AHII and then all I got was a black screen. When I cntrl+alt+del the black screen drops and I can see the intro page for AH flash then I drop to my desktop. I can't get in to the areanas to fly.

If anyone knows what may be wrong please let me know. I unistalled and reinstalled the game, but I still can't see the screen. When I open the game I still get the black screen. When I cntrl+alt+delete I see the game downloading/updating as it does when a new patch/version is starting but I can't do anything b4 I drop to desktop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, do you remember what version of the game you were starting up before the supoosed download happened? If it was "Version 2.09 Patch 2", then the game was current and the only thing that would have downloaded would have happened whne you connected to an arena online and there was a terrain running which you did not have installed.

Assuming you never got that and you did get something downloaded. Your computer probably has a virus or spyware/malware which attached itself to the last run executable and when you invoked Aces High II it downloaded and installed more of its type of software.

If all the assumptions are correct, then the proper, if only, course of action would be to run a virus/spyware scan on your computer.

I must have picked up a virus/spyware. I had the most current patch for sure. The download was not a terrain download, it was a full download with the planes, sounds, etc, etc.

I am running a spy sweep now. I ran a virus scan yesterday with no results. Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will do it...

Well, the virus and the spyware scan returned no results except for a couple of cookies which I deleted. All definitions were up to date. I am still getting the black screen.

Could it be a problem with ActiveX? I can see the program running in the background when I go back to desktop. I think the program is running ok. I just can't see the screen.

Skuzzy,

I got it working. I uninstalled again but this time I deleted all of my HTC directory from my hard drive completely. I downloaded from the website and reinstalled. Everything seems to be working now. Gotta reload my custom sound packages and set up my views etc, but that is no big deal. Sure appreciate the help. <>
