GREAT NEWS! My Livingroom TV Died
« on: June 23, 2007, 09:24:12 AM »
Last night my daughter is watching TV in the other room when suddenly she yells out "Heyyyy! what the heck?
Daddy I was watching my show and the TV went black But I can still hear the sound"

Me: "try changing channels. Maybe cable is messed up again"
Her:: "Nope. Its doing it on all the channels"
Always being a firm beleiver in "one personal observation is worth 1,000 reports" I walk into the livingroom to see for myself. Sure enough No picture. The sound doesnt surprise me as I have it running through the stereo and the TV sond is turned all the way down.

So I think turn the TV off, then back on again. Typically on the old Trusty Magnavox I'll see a channel number before the picture comes in..Nothing. Little light is lit telling me the set is on, but no picture. And the sound that I thought was completely turned down is making a weird humming noise.
Sure enough,
Its dead
Oh Damn it all to hell!
I'm heartbroken :D
Crushed :D  :D
Devistated even! :D :D :D
Oh the Humanity!
Whatever will I do? :D :D

Samsung, LG or VISIO if you are looking for an LCD HD unit. Those three have the best picture quality that I have seen. I bought my mother-in-law a Visio 30" LCD HD last christmas and it has very good picture quality for her to watch Anderson Cooper and Nancy Grace.

You know, TV repairmen still exist.  It may be worth the $50 to have one come out and check it.  Repair costs under 1/2 the price of a new set are better than plunking down > $1000 for a new HD TV.  Unless you really needed a reason to go out and get an HD set...

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

While I dont ask permission of my wife to buy what I want for myself.
New computer, upgrades to computer, something for the kids etc

And likewise she doesnt ask me

Something like this  we would agree on together as to what to do.

Now we have both been talking about getting at least a 42" HD
Particularly since She started watching "Planet Earth"

We really havent had the excuse.

Well now we have a double reason.
Reason A. The TV died
Reason B Today is our 23rd
(or is it 24th? I forget) wedding anniversary

now I ask you. what better gift could we get each other then a brandy new HD TV?

After I bought my little portable TV I took my big TV out and emptied a 30 round magazine into it.

My living room is much more pleasant now.

Isn't that just a dandy bit of serendipity!

Happy aniversary and happy TV shopping as well. :aok

Haven't watched TV since April of '04 and did not watch it from the 1974 to 1991.

Don't miss it.
