I usually go for either the turrent or engine.  Soon as I see it smoking, I move onto the next GV. It dont really bother me if I get credit or not as long as the enemy was killed

I distinctly recall one time when I upped a tempest and strafed 2 M4's until I ran out of ammo. Then I came back and did it again. I got one's tracks, but the other seemed undamaged. This after almost 500 rounds of 20mm in each tank. I did eventually get the 2 kills.

Whatever the situation, I have gotten numerous GV kills in every manner of aircraft by strafing and having them tower or get killed by a GV.

I have also been in GV's and killed GV's, not logging the kill because they were straffed by someone.

For those who do it to steal the kills, it sucks.

Roger on the IL2 and Hurri...I have killed plenty of tanks with them just with the cannons.  I love to track a tiger with a hurri.  Generally, if I am strafing GV's, I am trying to slow a base attack.  I don't ever go into TT to strafe GV's.

The other day I called out a tank that was hiding to friendlies, and because the couldn't see him in the trees, I marked him with my tracers - about a 1/4 second burst that I didn't even aim particularly well as it was just to say generally "Look right here!".

They then killed him, and I was surprised to see an assist announced.  I couldn't have hit him with more than one or two bullets.

"Curse your sudden (but inevitable!) betrayal!"

There is no minimum damage requirement to get an assist. Hit your enemy with a bullet, and you get at least an assist.
