Can someone tell me how to edit songs such as taking bits off it or make remixes?

Use a music editor available from most computer stores or music stores or a simple program like Nero wave editor.

Try Audacity. :)

The learning curve may be a little steep for someone with zero familiarity, but it gets the job done.  Not bad for the price, either. ;)
