Blood On the Canopy
« Reply #15 on: June 27, 2007, 06:47:53 PM »
I said we need to make the pilot wounds more graphic one day in Aces High and here are some of the responses I get

Guts on windshield
pool of blood on floor
blood on gauges
head in lap
pilot scremas when he gets shot
pilot calls for his mommy (my fav :) )
hands covered in blood (if we ever saw pilots hands)
fingers on the floor
one side of screen goes black from being shot in the eye

you guys have alot of time to think about these things dont ya :lol

Head in lap? All the poor pilot would see is his neck or his feet.

I always wanted a way to toggle it on or off but as my son is getting older it is not such issue any more. I certainly can see it would help with the wife/mom ack. :)

Telling them it is hydraulic fluid it a good idea. :)

I noticed that when you export the skin of an aircraft one of the bitmaps is BLOOD_a.bmp which seems to be the blood splatter pattern.
I guess if you modify it to be all black you won't see any blood in the cockpit.

I haven't tested this but It's a reasonable guess.

I imagine this would only work offline or Head to Head.

Yes, offline or H2H. Yet it only works in H2H if the textures are worked into the terrain, otherwise it's useless.

Or you could just be truthful with them. If your pilot gets wounded, he bleeds.

As far as wargames go, this is about the only one out there I can play during the day, or with them.

Otherwise I'm stuck with driving sims....

I could never understand why any sane parent would let children play games where main objective is killing and destruction then have a tenacity to request blood color change because it may be too much for them.

If you're of opinion your children are too young to deal with little blood, then they are too young to play war games.
