It was the nickname because the Woman who started it with her husband, started collecting planes. They purchased a Hellcat, Corsair, Wildcat, Tigercat and Bearcat. Hence the Cats were likened to a Zoo. On top of it, every plane in both hangars are in flyable condition. The last time I was there, I was talking with a gentleman and he stated that "Liability Insurance went up 5 times Sept. 12th, 2001". So they maintain them, and rarely fly em. It's a shame because they are in IMMACULATE shape.
