There was a recent post regarding folk's favorite bands. But I reckon most folks listen to a much wider spectrum than what they would answer to that question. For instance, in my case, I would name as favorites bands whose entire catalog I like, and who I enjoy seeing play live - Blue Oyster Cult, Pink Floyd, & Aerosmith being my personal top three.

But what I like to listen to spans a lot wider spectrum. I listen to all sorts of rock music, old-school country, bluegrass, and classical on a regular basis.

I thought about this today when I ran into a stretch of choices on XM that didn't please me, so I stuck in one of my rock MP3 CD's and shuffled it. I thought some of us here might do the same and compare notes.

Anyway, here's the first 10 random plays from Radio Free culero :)

Aldo Nova - Fantasy
Rob Zombie - Dragula
Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride
Tom Petty - Breakdown
Drowning Pool - Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Jane's Addiction - Just Because
Butthole Surfers - Who Was In My Room Last Night?
Mountain - Mississippi Queen
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

What does your MP3 shuffle yield?

Oh man, the list is too long and/or flexible. Sometimes it's whatever I'm listening to that is my favorite. What is it about music we long for? Especially among the young I think it makes us feel connected.

My shuffle hardly ever yields anything, because I don't allow it.  I most often direct it around, and only allow it to pick something if I'm too busy to change it.

However, if it's a song I don't feel like listening to, I'll change it, even if I'm too busy to attempt so.
