Pass the salt, I ain't goin nowhere.
« on: May 15, 2000, 01:48:00 PM »
I have yet to see this rate of production for any online game, in any genre (not limited to flight sims).  We can barely get used to the equipment and maps we have before they're putting out more.  We're still getting used to this terrain, and we're about to be hit with a naval terrain.

When looking for a good flight sim, Gordo and I tried everything this past December.  FA2, AW3, Warbirds, boxed games with multiplayer, you name it.  The limited planeset and simple terrain Aces High had back then was already easily the best to be found, and compared to what is here today it's not even the same game anymore.

No matter what I have in mind, be it several hours of hard-core strategic assualt trying to take bases, or a few quick intense sorties, it's immediately available.

Are there things I wish they'd have additionally?  Surely.  I want to see an arena with land/sea.  I'd love to see gliders able to land a tank close to the target.  I would love to have 8 monitor support so I don't have to use a HAT switch.  Better yet 24 so I can sit in a modelled cockpit complete with obstructions.  I'd love to feel the G forces instead gauging by wind sound and black/redout.  I'd love it if folks realized the N1k2 is a more dangerous opponent than the F4u-1c, despite whatever state of the cannons may or may not be.  I'd love it if folks kept there whining here instead of when I'm trying to enjoy the game in the MA too.

Despite what I think we still need, there is nothing out there that comes anywhere close to being the ideal flight sim for me.  Given what I've witnessed from Hitech Creations, I'm fairly certain we're not going to see anything come close anytime soon.  (sure I'm going to have a look at WW2Online, but given the scope of what they're attempting there, if the flight portion comes anywhere close to Aces High, I'll eat a pair of Gordo's socks)

So, if you're getting frustrated, take a step back and look at the big picture.  Don't yell at other people for not flying like you want or what you want.  If all else fails, do what I do, auger 12 times in a row so you take death a little less seriously.

This is as close as I'm going to get to any sort of feel good group hug type post, if this sim doesn't live up to your standings by all means, go, find one that does.  Good luck, you're going to need it.

Here, here!  Best post in days Fatty.
I for one am burned out in reading all the junk in this newsgroup, but not in flying in this sim at all.

MarkVZ passes the salt...after discretely unscrewing the lid

Great post Fatty, I don't think that some people realize that AH is still in it's infancy and has a long ways to go, yet that the amount of work already done on Aces High is astounding given the time that they had to work on it.

Ata boy Fatty...

I still hold 2 accounts with WB and i will most likely open one with wwii online, but i have the most fun as far as Flight modeling,Damage and loadout in AH.. it just rocks so i spend most of my free time here. I limit my WB time to S3 events witch are a blast. Hope to see something like it here soon.

The boys at HTC put a lot of time in on AH and even better, spend a lot of time with us Flying, thus giving us access to them on a daily basis. Thats what i think is outstanding.

Dog out .........

I ain't going anywhere. Sure we all have frustrating days, times we fly like #$%^^*,
days when things don't work right.

As good as AH is right now I'm sure HT & pyro have changes/improvements yet to come. As much as this game has changed since beta who knows WHERE it will end up!

Meantime, I'll be hanging on & trying to enjoy the ride!
