NOAA Awards Stratosphere Research Grant to SAPP

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is awarding a grant totaling $1,398,000 to SAPP. NOAA is an agency of the Department of Commerce.

“We are constantly working to improve the understanding of Aces High environment and to strengthen large maps research and management initiatives in the atmosphere,” said retired Navy Vice Adm. Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Ph.D., undersecretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. “These grants help advance knowledge by actively supporting efforts that reinforce NOAA’s commitment to our stratosphere.”

“SAPP takes great pride in our record of stratosphere stewardship, and an important part of that record is found in SAPP's active role in the development of technology to further the understanding of our atmosphere's upper layers,” said SAPP Strato Team leader Ack-Ack. “NOAA resources will reinforce this work, which helps to protect stratosphere from AH players interference and preserve access for current and future SAPP members.”

The SAPP Office of Planning will use the funds to assist stratosphere scientist Ack-Ack and his SAPP Strato Team in continuing the implementation of its approved stratosphere management program.

The grant to SAPP will fund the purchase of stratosphere-troposphere (ST) VHF radar mounted on new Lockheed build P-38/XYZ, and is a cornerstone of the research in stratospheric physics. This impressive phased-array radar with 400 antennae is used to study winds, stratospheric gravity waves and turbulence to an altitude of 295,000 ft.

"Gents, we got a grant for $1,398,000 to study the stratrosphere or something like that.

I'd like to thank AKAK for perpetuating the notion that he is always flying at that height.  While we know that all oxygen equipment was removed from SAPP 38s to make room for the Shuffler SAPP margarita blender, it keeps us in booze and women to have that much money to throw around.

Thanks again AKAK."

As for spending of the $1,398,000, we thought long and hard as of how to go about it. Finally we took a vote on purchasing a P38H, or more beverages for our consumption. Shame we wont see that P38H until some agency decides to study the effects of dirt on low flying P38s.

There is no P-38/XYZ. That's just a rumor, smoke and mirrors, nothing more. There IS a P-38N-1-Lo. We keep it hidden. Guppy 35 does not have the keys to that hangar. Among the special features of the P-38N-1-Lo are the moonshine/crushed ice dispenser, and the encrypted "little black book" with the hottest of the lambs, ewes, and other hotties.

Study not needed.

Rooks have conquered the stratosphere and have moved on to the Ionisphere.

Just up in ANY arena...go to 35K and look UP...

You will see plenty of ROOKS!

I, for one, no longer waste 45 minutes of my time to go up there to fight 'em.  I fight Bish now.
