Leather and Paint
« on: July 11, 2007, 02:41:23 PM »
I spilled a freaking gallon of white oil based paint all over the back seat of my car (leather).  I've gotten 95% of it off with just soap and water, but theres small patches that I just cant seem to lift.  Anyone have any tips without destroying the leather?

Geez Cav you spill more stuff than my 6 year old

I got the following off a Google search

Try using plain isopropyl alcohol. If it is latex (or acrylic) is should help in dissolving the paint. I dropped some lime green acrylic on a good pair of levis and didn't notice it until the next day. I poured the alcohol on the spot, let it set for a few seconds, then with my fingernail, gently began scrubbing. It took a couple of times of pouring a little on to the spot, but it came completely out. I'm a decorative painter, so you can imagine how excited I became. I started going through some of my clothes that had drops of paint on them and just about every one came clean.
Hope this works for you.

paint cans do not go on your leather seats, they go in the trunk, or as our English friends say "the boot".

Dammm this thread was a let down...

Back seat?  Leather?  Paint?

The only thing that will remove that is a $200 hooker and a good 3 hours of hard work.

BUT ONLY IF YOU ACT QUICKLY.

you can get it at most ACE Hardware or Home Depot Stores.
Its a handcleaner but it also works as a prewash on clothing and getting it off where its not supposed to be before it gets too hard
