The US Dollar?
« on: July 13, 2007, 07:41:26 AM »
Was reading the local newspaper at lunch today and noticed that the USD is now only worth 5.7 Norwegian crowns. WTF I thought as I have never before seen the USD under 6 NOK, and only a couple of years ago the USD was worth more than 8 NOK. By comparison the Canadian Dollar is valued at 5.5 NOK. What's going on over there?

a thinly veiled attempt to get you guys to stop consuming local lutefisk and import our own.  it's good for our trade imbalance.

It is the beginning of the end for America...  just as you had hoped.. we will soon have to give in and let the UN run our country and norway will take our place as the worlds richest and most powerful country.

I have had to close off a couple of my bedrooms to save money.

I even tuned up the el camino to get it up to 12 mpg from 11 the other day and set my airconditoner from 68 to 70.

We are really feeling the pinch around here.

I may have to close off a whole wing of the house and a couple of the bathrooms.

Uhh - I give a ****. Trips home to Scotland cost an f'in fortune. The UK pound is now worth more than $2.

On the other hand, my condo in Scotland is now almost worth a downpayment on a condo over here.

cheap AH = goodness

Wonder if HTC will let you pre-pay for a few months. That way i could save enough money for a pretzel and a coke.

that's bad for the future of EU economy, Here in Canada the gov. raised the interes rates twice in last 6 weeks, and more to come, just to keep the CAD under USD, mortgages and other loas are more expensive
In most of EU the cost of living  and unemplayement is higer, like in UK few years ago, comparing with US,
in US you can find a hotel room from 25-29$/night, decent dinner for 10$, pay 2-2.5$ for a galon of gas, i've seen new single houses for sale advertising for 100 000$ or less in Detroit,Dallas,Indianapolis, and lot more places, while lot more  europeans are renting cuz can't aford to buy
high curency is colapsing the EU turism  wich was a high % of economy in some places

if all goes soo well, why are EU goverments still  charging you 4$ in taxes for a gallon of gas and  most peoples have to drive those diesel disconfortable small lawnmowers ww polo, Pinto,peugeot106....,?

The dropping value of the dollar is just setting the stage for a North American Euro....Mexico, US, and Canada will be under one currency.
