You bunch of noobs are making me feel way too old. I was Rave ::IAF:: cpid 3353 late 93 on GEnie and paying the big bucks. I remember Vortex and especially (ready for a flashback bud?) his CO Athos and the rest of the Musketeers, as well as vaguely remembering Nobaddy, Grits and Lone Wolf.

Started with the old Microprose like some of the other "old timers" and did h2h on Falcon 3.0 quite a bit back then. Here's a short list for the Nostalgic... (Vortex actually took this Camp off so the rest of us could get some kills, and to thank him, I left his rank that camp off) :)

Nobaddy...were you cpid 5553? Lone Wolf...cpid 220?

Been off for a long while, but thinking to get going again...

I started on AW when it first came to AOL and was pay per hour.  Stuck with it through its demise, then I came here and was in Fighterace briefly, it helped that our co was running FA at the time, while it was on the Zone.  After that, life got in the way and I was off for about 9-10 years.  Been back here a year and a few months now.

There are guys in my squad that were in AW long before me, and still play AH also.  There are old timers out there, lots of them just don't make a lot of noise.

and i remember a game i got to play a couple of times on a network of universities (we were in the vet school at UF) which was "online" i guess, that was also early 80s with my brother, i remember you had to hit return to refresh the screen i remember how very cool it was at the time playing against guys across the country (i have no idea what the name of hat game was) ...

AW from pay per hour days (had a 600.00 bill one month), then WB's now here.  15 years or so I guess.  Been here 3 months now. Love it, and we got WW1 yesterday, love it even more.

Always been Zoney, was in the Pigstompers in AW, JG27 in WB and in AW II/JG-27.  Our entire squad migrated here from WB.

I Flew AWII back in 97 IIRC . Then I remember buying AW3 boxed version  and flew from 97 ish to 2000.  I tried AH in 2000 and thought it was way too hard to shoot anyone down ....that and the flight model was simulator like compared to AW lol.  I went back to AW for another 6 months till EA really porked it ....then came back here and joined up . I still have my AW3 disk somewhere lol, along with some gamestorm versions .

First flight sim?    Combat on Atari 2600 in 1980  :lol

AH since 2001 I think.  I remember you could play in certain multiplayer arenas (at least one) for free at the time.

FINAL SCORES - AIR WARRIOR

CAMPAIGN 102 - December 10, 1993 - January 7, 1994

Bah.  Campaign 102 from 1993.  Those are some newbs!  ;)

Quote
Campaign 2
Aces as of 13:04EST  03/03/88
Rank   Kills  Country  Ship    Handle
[Many people who were approximately infinitely better than I was, then:]
527        8    A      850 BROOKE

Ah, yes.  Ranked 527th out of 596 pilots with a total score of 8 kills.  :aok

I remember taking up a P-51 with full fuel and doing the hardest continuous turn I could on the deck right after takeoff (no flaps either of course) and marvelling at how a vulching Spitfire could keep shooting me down again and again!

First flight sim was called Mail Run (I think) for the Apple  IIGS around 1987.  Got MSFS around 97 and joined AH the week before it became AHII.  I have played pretty steadily until the last year or so.  The new additions (mainly WW1) have rekindled my interest.
