At first glance, you have enough to run this game. you've got a decent CPU, 512MB RAM, and a sound card.

The reason you can't play the game well is your video card.

An X300 is a really really low-end non-gaming card. It just can't handle this game (or probably many other games either).

It depends on if you want to spend $60-$70 or not for a "newer" (but not "new) card to bring it up to the level it can run AH2, or if you don't want to.

Ya you are on the low end with this computer. It takes about 512 megs of ram just to run XP, and like krusty said the video card is a low end card, but the good news is you should still be able to get it to play. You'll have to turn everything down, and if you were a bit more computer savy you could tweak your computer a bit to get it to run a bit faster.

start the game and click on the "Video settings button" You may have to knock down your resolution to 800x600, but make sure your "max texture size" is down to 128, and that neither "pre-load" box is checked in the textures box. Click ok, and when the main screen pops back up again start the game in off line mode. Check and see how it runs. Its not going to be the prettiest, but it should be able to run.

Once offline, go into the graphics setup and:

Disable all skins
Disable weapons effects
Disable vehicle effects

Leave the range sliders at default first, and if it's still bad slide them to shorter range and try again.

Personally I don't think you can run it on an X300, but stranger things have happened.

On a 5 year old computer, that's not the attitude to take :D

You can put a high-end card in that rig and still not get too much performance because your FSB is at 533MHz (or less) or because of "this" or "that" that is bottlenecking your system.

For a system that old, go with a medium range card. These days look for a Ge6600 or a Radeon 9500 line. Something like one of those cards, that will still run AH, but won't cost you too much.

If you want the best gameplay, you'll need a computer that isn't 5 years old. So just spend what you need to keep this rig running, and save the rest up for a newer PC at a later time.
