They have a powerful lobby.

When will you guys learn its not about what makes sense, what is right or you or me.

Its about getting re elected.

Thats all these people care about.

I hope at some point Im alive to see a revolution of some type.  Maybe not with guns etc.

Maybe a bunch of POd hackers crashing govt systems etc.

Something because these politicians have to be stopped.

Yes, but it's been bought and paid for by special interests.  And apparently the warranty has run out as well.

stockli, what makes you think folks will get up in arms enough to get...up in arms?   Despite occasional calls for revolution, I don't ever expect to see it: people have too much vested interest in what they have to risk it over silly little things like ideals.  They'll give up a little at a time, in the hopes they can keep most of the rest.
They can't be bothered enough to register to vote, learn about the candidates and issues, and drag their butts away from the t.v. long enough to actually cast their vote.  Many that do vote vote straight party line ticket, or despite lots a complaints about the crooks in D.C., keep electing their own particular crook because he brings home the bacon.

I dont think the general populace will actually pick up guns and revolt, as said in my post.

I do think small pockets will revolt through technology.  I think we have started to see the tip of the iceberg on the damage a group of individual with a computer can do.

Can anyone seriously look at this government and not get sick about it?

It is a joke.

Ted while I do agree with alot of what you stated in your post, voting doesnt help at this point.  All these guys are expert liars and go to college to learn how to do just that.  Most of them go to school to be politicians.  They major in things like poli sci or law.  They learn how to twist and manipulate facts and how to deceive people for their own advantage.

I dont see how voting would fix any of it.  Just like the episode of South Park when your choices are a **** Sandwich and a Giant sweetheart does anyone really win?

How does making education cheaper for illegals make sense?  Anyone?

They've done the Demographic projections and both parties have figured out that if they never close the border or deport the illegals residing in the USA (which they never will), within two decades they will be the new majority in the USA and both parties are desperately trying to curry favor with that future new majority.

I met several "McCain" Republicans in D.C. who were already thinking that way in the mid-90s. Their theory is that Latin-Americans are basically socially conservative, so they should naturally be attracted to the Republican party once they have assimilated into the culture and become citizens. I remember one lunch-time conversation where the speaker was quite enthused because he believed they would be the key to overwhelming the looney liberal vote in California and turning the state Red again. I asked something along the lines of, but wait the Latin American countries are all overwhelmingly socialist, why are they all going to become conservatives, especially when we are luring them with socialist-style entitlements? To which vague assurances were given that becoming American would end the socialist streak.

Anyway, from what I could tell, both parties seemed to have the word "inevitable" hovering over the immigration question, and viewed opposition as silly, xenophobic, and of course racist. It's even racist if you are an American of Hispanic origin opposed to illegal immigration (and selfish to boot). So it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Unless Ron Paul gets elected, which the Republicans will make darn sure never happens.

Where are all these rabid-right-wing Republicans in Washington I hear about in the news? I spent almost ten years there and the only ones I met were dispirited beaten-down outsiders looking to get out of that town as soon as they could.

Sold to the highest bidder by democrats and republicans.

I found this discussion on PBS about the constitution very informative, how congress & the presidents have sodomized the constitution over the years.

You didint hear this from me. My oppinion is NOT to kick them out. My oppinion is NOT to ignore them as citizens, its NOT to deny them all of our rights, as they have put absolutely nothing into the system themselves. My oppinion is NOT to deny them healthcare, police services, postal services, road services, and my oppinion is NOT to disregard them as humans.

Remove the word 'NOT' from every sentence.
