AAR Frame 3
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:47:43 AM »
The 332nd was over in numbers, but several pilots did a quick transfer and flew with the Bad Guys. We also had some observers. Thanks gents for letting us fly with you.

The 332nd was slotted to defend the Radar Factory in 12.7 and after about 45 minutes or so some stratospheric P-51’s showed up. Ghosth had a flight of 109K’s at 10k and Maddog was leading the 190D’s at about 20k. Not much happened at first, but then some heavy P-47’s showed up and things became interesting. Both sides drew blood and it was a wild ride, but then HeavyH spotted several formations of B-17’s and things got ugly real quick. forHIM took out 2 or 3 bombers in quick order, but took too much damage to keep his aircraft in the air. He bailed not far from the factory. Unfortunately most of the factory was destroyed. The cost was about 6 B-17’s and 3 fighters.

TANK, Cowboy and myself flew with the Bad Guys. We were all jumped by P-38’s not far from our target. We managed to down 2 P-38’s before we were shot down. I think most of the Bad Guys made it to their target. Below is a pic of icke and I locked in some rolling scissors with another P-38 on my six. Wilddog can be seen in the background trying to land his burning 190.

Having 8 pilots and only 4 bombers available we split JG11 into Blitz flight, and Dora flight, giving the Dora flight a"free fight" and not attaching them to Blitz flight.

Originally posted by TUXC123 on the JG11 website:

Blitz flight took off from NE runway at A12 with 12 bombers in 4 groups led by Vater, Stampf, RMRider, and me. We avoided an enemy flak battery near our base and proceded to climb to 20k over friendly territory. Upon climbout our radio crackled with reports of intense fighting between Dora flight and Allied P38s. ViperII and Zud were both forced to bail out after being hit by enemy fire, and skatsr needed to RTB with damage. Other friendly units in the area witnessed 3 p38s damaged by ViperII go down, awarding him 3 kills.

Once at altitude Blitz flight accelerated to over 400mph to prevent interception by roving Allied fighters. Reports came in that our primary objective, A72, had been leveled by a well coordinated attack by our comrades in Ju88s and Bf110s. Therefore Vater gave the order to divert to our secondary targets. All bombers made at least one attack run on the already damaged refinery near A33 and then RMRider and I proceeded to attack hangars at A64 while Stampf and Vater rearmed at A39. The other two bombers in Vater's formation somehow became separated from his flight, and his remaining bomber suffered extensive damage due to a belly landing at A39.  RMRider and I were both jumped by Tempests, but quickly dispatched our pursuers with a shallow dive to over 470mph and rearmed our bombers for another attack.

Stampf, RMRider and I all took off separately with single ships for our second attack run on A64. The enemy was on high alert at this point with fighter patrols scouring the area for our bombers. Stampf and RMRider both found themselves up against crack pilots of the 56th and 347th fighter groups and were forced to bail from their crippled jets. I managed to evade the enemy fighters by coming in high and fast and dropped the final fighter hanger on the field. A diversionary attack by some friendly fighters allowed me to make my escape and land safely.

Blitz squad ended the mission with 8 out of 12 bombers returning to base. Vater destroyed 7 strat targets, Stampf destroyed 5, RMRider 1, and I destroyed 5 plus 1 bomber and 2 fighter hangars.

I thought my P47 was going to just fall apart on me when I dove in on Stamps 243s. I actually had to cut engine and trim out of compression. :lol

Clowns of Death Allied AAR

The Clowns lifted from A75 in heavy P-47N's, we had 8 pilots on.  When we were clear we dropped our ords and linked up with The Killuminati who were also in P-47N's.  Our mission was to defend the Maastricht area A72 in 7,14,8.  We climbed to 25k, after patrolling for about 10min after we reached our target alt we saw the fuel depot start flashing so we made our way into that direction.  We couldn't see any enemy con's, after a couple more min we saw A72 start flashing so we raced towards it as fast as we could.  When we got there we still couldn't see anything so me and 2 other squadies dropped to the deck to see if they were low.  As soon as I went into my dive I saw a hanger go down, so I called for the rest of my squad to drop to the deck with me.  When I got in icon range of the enemy I saw a swarm of 110's, there was another squad already in-gaged with them.  It was already too late to prevent the 110's from taking out all the hangers, there were about 10-12 110's but we were able to easily mop them up with few loses on our side, on the Clowns end we only lost one, maybe two pilots.

After that those of us that needed to re-armed at A72, we were trying to get our CiC to give us a secondary target to go after since A72 had all it's hangers down and shouldn't have anymore enemy flights ib to it.  The CiC wanted us to stay and defend it still because the town was still up, we tried to let him know that we thought that the town wasn't a target, and even if it was the Axis didn't know it was because the 110's ignored it even after they still had ammo and all hangers were gone.  So after we re-armed we had to drop our ords again so we could patrol the area.  After about another 20min we were told that the town wasn't a target so re-arm again and head to A12.  At this point we only had 4 in my squad left due to some people having to leave, we also had Betty with us from The Killuminati.  So we headed for A12, half way there we split into two groups of two, we went there NOE, with Betty staying with my group to give high fighter cover since she broke her gear and was unable to re-arm and get ords.  We arrived at A12 and had no enemy fighter interference.  We took out the last bomber hanger that was left, and took out the rest of the troop barracks.  One of my squadies augered on his dive bomb run, and another was taken out by the ack from the strat next to A12.  We egressed out west to head for A76 to land.  Around A29 we ran into a 190, I took him out, but then 2 more showed up, Betty & Gaidin went down so it was just me and 2 190's, on the first 190 I popped his oil and his fuel, but his friend ended up taken me out:( .

I have to say this has to be my favorite FSO that I've been in so far, I've only been flying FSO since November 06 though.  I've had my best FSO performance too:D , I normally choke on FSO's for some reason, but this frame I tied for 2nd pilot kills on the Allied side, would have been tied for first if I would have got that last 190 who's oil & gas I popped. :(

We came in with our B17s at 22,300 feet spread out in a good formation to drop on the radar factory in it's entirety. Our escorts were up ahead at a higher altitude to disperse the defenders prior to our arrival on station. We made our drop with just a few 109s to hinder and managed to bring it down to 20%. We kept it going north about 20 miles with more 109s and 190s harrasing the aft part of our group and then made a hard right hand turn back to target. Our second drop brought it down to 2%. We then dove down to the deck at ludicrous speed to the south west. Out of 8 formations, we lost 2 and three of us landed with all our bombers and the other three with 2 bombers.
Thanks go to Kurt and Flynptz of the Clowns of Death for joining us as gunners. We had a flight of of 110's that had come apon us early on in the frame. We thought the cat was out of the bag at that point, but we managed to get to target with no resistance until we arrived. And thanks to Nomde and his group for the ecscort.  to all, we had a blast!
