My Connection
« on: July 22, 2007, 04:50:35 PM »
Well, when I play Aces High II on Eight Player Head to Head I disconnect every few minutes. This happens in every arena hosted by another player.

I use Wireless, so I thought it might be playing up so I plugged a cable into m computer that connected me directly into my Router. But it still didn't fix me diconnecting.

I told someone on Aces High about my problem ad they told me to right clickte Arena Map and to click on NetSpace( I think this is what it's called ) and he said there shoud be a Red line or a line in the boxes that came up.

All I saw was two blueish/Purplish boxes that were completely blank without any lines i them at all. I told him what I saw and he  told meI did have problems with my connectivity.

So I posted here. If it helps, my general internet is ine, it jus happens on Aces High II.

To clarify, her Net Status does not have any readings, and she gets disconnected from Aces High II while remaining connected to the internet.

Zava, are all programs closed except for Aces High II and perhaps Ventrilo or something?  Things like e-mail, messaging programs, and possibly even your internet browser could be interfering.  Also make sure that your firewall isn't blocking Aces High II; if that were the case, I doubt that you'd be able to join at all, but checking can't hurt.

Also, if your using any p2p apps, these will retain your connection for ages after you kill them.........check your firewall, antivirus etc isnt set up to connect for updates whilst your playing (I've had disco's for that), and any app program that isnt required for the game, isnt running....(all I have running when I play is ventrilo and AHII)....could you post a pingplot as well.......thankeee kindaly

Plingpot? I used to have a p2p but I never used it and I deleted it. The only thing that is running when I play is Ace High and my Cpu Usage is ( It changes all the time. ) 3 - 7.

It may be my router, but I don't know what is causing it.

Hi Zava, Ping plotter will detail the route from your puter to aces high (in a number of jumps and with a pic)

Ping Plotter Download

Once you've done that, we should be able to see if your getting packet loss etc anywhere, which can cause disconnects. Can you change the setting in pingplotter to show udp please...Also, do you have anything running that updates regularly (ie explorer on a page with a shout bar for example) as one of those has done it to me as well......

Ok, once you've installed it, and opened it up, it will ask for an ip (just some numbers separated by periods)

The ip to aces high is 206.16.60.39......if you check the other tabs on there, there should be one you can go into to change it from tcp/ip to udp. Once its beein running for a couple of minutes, save the output as a pic (jpg/bmp etc) and host it on one of the sites on the net (photobucket etc)......then bung it up on here, and we'll take a look. While we're at it, what router, settings do you have, and has this been happening for a while, or just started?

I'm not quite sure about it, either, but if you'll look to the right side of the graph, you'll notice that you do seem to have a rather high ping.  I've never heard of a ping of 500 causing disconnects, however.

Few higher ping times, of more interest, you are losing 25% of packets on jump 15, 25% on jump 16 and 50% on jump 19........which doesnt seem right.......that said, last time I checked mine, I had a 100% loss over 1 jump...may well have to wait for skuzzy on this one.......

BT users seem to be having a lot of troubles lately.

I would be concerned about your CPU usage as well.  It should be bouncing between 0 and 1 (occasionally 2) like a steady heartbeat when the computer is idle.

3 to 7 is far too high.

So, your saying there's nothing much I can do? It's my broadband provider?
