well ive been messing with it a bit now, and one thing that makes a difference in game is the option for "object relative move"  default is off, and some people like it that way, i prefer it on..

try both, neither is better its all personal preference.

Did you get the clip thing or did you just go with the reflectors?  I ended up getting the TrackIR with the clip with the 3 LEDs built in.  But recently the movement was real jerky, especially when I looked left.  I figured out eventually that the LEDs weren't aimed at the IR camera very well.  The IR camera is on top of my flat panel and is about 10 inches higher up than the Track IR clip, so I figured out that I had to aim the LEDs upwards on an angle towards the IR cam as much as possible.

After that movements were much smoother.  I'm pretty new at this game and I've never been a pilot IRL or even in a realistic flight sim, but the Track IR is great, its totally natural to look around or move my head side to side to see around the metal in those crazy russian cockpits when it obscures my target.

Also follow the quickstart instructions closely or else you'll miss a little detail and wonder why nothing works hehe.

Snubby,
With respect to the viewing speed, I have found that increasing the priority of the TIR process has made a tremendous difference as well as just generally making looking around much smoother.    Here is the link about it.

Also, be sure you check out Mace's profile as it really works well.

Good luck with your TIR.

HomeBoy,

I used your priority fix and it helped some (my brand new TIR4 was unusable without your fix) but it's still pretty skippy.

Also how do you take those profiles you and Mace have and get them in the profile picker?\

Thanks

I just figured out the profile part. Go to C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles and do a right click > New > Text Document.  Open it in NOTEPAD.  Copy and paste Mace's profile code in (but you must get rid of all the leading dashes - because they're not supposed to be there) and save the file as AH2.xml  (make sure you change the extension to xml).  Then load up track IR and change the AH profile from Combat Flight to  I think Mace2.

I was fooling around with the little white head thing and it seems REALLY sensitive.

As for the fsautostart you put what HomeBoy says into the bottom of the 'Configuration' dialog, it's pretty straightforward, but  you have to remember where you put the vbs file you created.

Scotty,
I don't know how those dashes got in Maces file like that.  I cut and pasted it originally and don't recall having that problem.  Odd.

Regarding setting up the priority with FSAUTOSTART, have you seen this post?

If you have any other questions, please let me know.  Glad to help.

Yes, upping the priority on TIR has made a bigger difference than any single thing I've done to my TIR since I've had it.  It is very smooth and fast now.

I just found out why I was having so many problems with TIR and AH. I had, at one point, changed the priority of Aces High in my FS Autostart to Above Normal.   That of course caused problems when TIR was at Normal and improved when I set it to Above Normal using your VBS script (thanks for that BTW).  Haven't fired it up yet but I bet it will work ten times better now.
